I thought German Weaponry was supposed to be superior to Soviet Weaponry. How come the Wehrmacht failed to capture the House and Grain silo from a group of people with Inferior weaponry?

Slavs love their vodka so much that they would never allow their grain to fall into enemy hands.

Because the house offered an excellent position in which to defend. It had little to do with the small arms they had

No wait, I made an error
something something logistics something something manpower
Many Germans preferred Soviet small arms to their own as they were more robust. So I would not say that Soviet designs were inferior. Especially since the T34 outclassed German tanks when it was first introduced. Furthermore, the urban battlefield mostly negates technological advantages. Even men with muskets could do damage to modern soldiers if they can get behind or astride them.
>>34996614
The Soviet soldier was also a courageous, dogged defender even bordering on suicidal. The would not leave positions "until their clothes were smoldering." That combined with a ruined, rubble filled city turned fortress turned Stalingrad into a meatgrinder.

Aside from my above points, another crucial factor is logistics. If the Soviets can throw more men and more material into battle, German tactical (the tactics the Germans were best at did not involve brutal house to house street fighting) and technological superiority does not matter.
ppsh>mp40 in room clearing, accuracy does not mean shit when you're shooting people 10 meters away.
even germans liked it that they use it everytime they find one.
>>34995578
Soviet Engineering was such a mess that Germans just had to stop fighting and try fixing the place up to german standards.
>>34995578
Because /k/ overhype Nazi weapons while downplays Soviet weapons
>>34995578
Because war is more than just weapons, dummy.
someone must be researching stalingrad.
Superiority in an actual measure takes into all accounts of a weapon, as opposed to merely how accurate or well made it is.
It also depends on the context, it won't matter how accurate the MP40 is if the target is 50m away, it won't matter if the panzer 3 can go 300KM without repairs if it gets knocked out easily by the T-34
I think both sides had matching weaponry though, hitler's autism at locking down german troops in urban combat probably doomed his war

That picture is from Berlin. Soviet tanks trying to cross Moltke Bridge in line of sight of the AA guns on the zoo flak tower.
Why Soviets, under Stalin, not fail to defend STALINgrad...?
If you have more men, on their home turf, with an even bigger incentive to not fail, against tactically inept supreme leader... outcome is forseen.
GTFO this thread and read SunTzu.

ppsh, tolerances aside is just as accurate as MP40 if not more because the cartridge is flatter-shooting.
Probably because they were heavily defended compared to less heavily defended buildings. Someone post the info graph that shows how the soviets would set up anti tank guns inside the buildings and use lookouts on higher levels so they always knew where armor was coming from. They probably weren't significant objectives anyway or they would have been leveled by artillery or stukas.

>house to house street fighting
Most of the fighting at Stalingrad occurred well outside the actual city. The rattenkrieg was the exception, not the rule. Small arms more suitable for urban fighting would have made no difference.
>>34997931
They were massively significant objectives in terms of what area you could control by owning them. key word is owning. Can't use them if they're rubble.

>>34995578
>Hurr having a better weapon means you win perfectly 100% of the time and is the only thing that matters
At that point, they had artillery commanders, and general staff fighting house-to-house.
You could be the best artillery commander out there, but when the army can't supply you, and you're facing waves of Soviets and all you have is a rifle you never practiced with, its going to be rough going.

>How come the Wehrmacht failed to capture the House and Grain silo from a group of people with Inferior weaponry?
wtf are you talking about, we captured both last night. It was embarrassingly easy.
Small arms don't win wars. Boots win wars.

Small arms are not the end all to infantry combat, in fact they aren't usually a major factor unless the disparity in quality is massive.

>Soviets can throw more men and more material into battle
The irony of this point is that Chukov pretty much trickled just enough reinforcements across the Volga to hold their strip along the river to grind down the Germans.

Germans only think in a Tactical mindset never in Strategic mindset.
