I have an HSGI padded belt, but I could never quite get it to sit right. It would always ride up. I think my hips are too big for my waist, and I don't have a tactical gut to keep it down. Anyway, I might try a battle belt again when I decide one of the ones with a loop liner that allows me to wear a hook belt, so it can stay in place.

Really nice. I like how unbulky they are compared to an L-flashlight or head/helmet lamp on an adapter for chest lighting.

>>
>>34999608
In the army, we used IR chemlights to signal medivac helicoptors for landing and that was pretty much it. a normal chemlight was used in almost all other scenarios. We assumed the enemy had access to NV optics.

In the civilian world, i can think of even fewer instances (none) where i would want an IR chemlight over a normal one.

I've seen IR chemlites used to mark people in the military in certain instances. Sometimes friendly fire outweighs IR discipline when you don't have access to battery powered strobes. Here's a pic of a dude with one strapped to his helmet. In the civilian world, if you're a tacticool faggot running around with NV, you probably have some tacticool friends, and why not toss on IR for night time fuckery?

We also used the IR chemlights to identify us as friendlies so the dudes on the roof with the M240s /w thermal scopes didn't shoot us if we took contact. That's about the only use I personally have ever had with IR chemlights.

Really, look at riding/paddock boots.

Other than the shitty leather soles, they fit,

Have a cobber slap good Vibrams on a pair of cheap Ariats or Justins, and your feet will thank you.

If yu want the goofy nazi looking stuff, like a kne high boot, it's out there, but they are fucking uncomfortable.

I've worn a pair of WW2 german ankle boots foralmost 15 years, and they were amazingly comfortable.

Had to get them resoled a bunch, but so what?

Or you could buy garbage at walmart and have feet that are rotten and hurting.

Question that I probably won't take the answer to seriously, given its /k/.

I have a riggers belt and a retention lanyard. Can I thread the lanyard through the metal weight supporting point on the riggers belt like pic related? Or is that going to strain the lanyard loop? I don't want to keep the thing connected with a carabinier that rattles around.

Anyone knows a good two PALS wide pouch to dump small items in like a small ligth and stuff?

Not sure if i should put a fourth taco pouch or something to hold stuff in.
I feel like chest /belt rig should hold stuff you might need in a hurry.

I could just grab a map, light etc from small pouches on my backpack because i don't thinl i'm going to read a map under fire, but everyone seems to have more than ammo on their plate carrier/chest rigs so i'm wondering if i'm missing something.

String makes it easy to shoot your azimuth on a map. You plot the point you're at with a coordinate, center the protractor on that point, and bring the string to the point you need an azimuth to. The string will be on whatever degree you have to travel. I'll try and find one of my old maps and do a land nav class on /k/ soon I guess, because a lot of us don't seem to know how to do it.

Any good recommendations for an inner belt with male (hook) velcro?

I'll be using it with one of the Firstspear Assaulters Gun Belts which has the female (loop) velcro on the inside.
>>
>>35010251
what's wrong with Alice packs? I like mine
>>
>>35010982
The frame is overly heavy for what it provides, the shoulder straps are not directly pulling the weight of the pack to the body since they are attached to the frame, the waistpad is poor, and the entire shape of the pack is a square rather than a vertical rectangle.

I got through BCT, soldier competitions, the GAFPB with an ALICE pack. I used a TT MALICE in Air Assault training. I've dun did my time walking in those things.

I've also done a lot while wearing with other rucks, including walking up and down Afghanistan, and I can tell you than an internally framed, vertically shaped ruck is better.
>>
>>35011051
That makes sense. I too did my share of walking with an alice pack full of heavy shit. The only ruck I've had to compare it to is those giant plastic frame MOLLE packs we were issued in like 2011, which are massive pieces of shit. So the alice seems nice by comparison
>>
>>35011224
Yes, those MOLLE 2 packs also suck. I had to use one of them a number of times to carry some specific, extremely bulky gear. They are entirely to complicated to assemble and the curve on the frame is bizarre and doesn't really shape the pack to the body as it intends.

The positives I can say about the ALICE pack, and the reason I keep components around is that the shelf frame can be used to strap unusual things like full ammo cans or a large radio to it straight up.

For general purpose and use as a large ruck, Eberlestock or Mystery Ranch are pricey, but very good.

Recently though for my own gear I've moved away from rucks entirely and stripped down and compacted what I'm carrying. I am currently using a Gen-1 MOLLE Assault pack. It doesn't have the advantage of an internal frame, but neither does it have the superfluous weight of an ALICE shelf frame. I have a waistpack on the bottom of the pack and that attached waistpack proves a waiststrap- waiststraps being important for any kind of long distance weight carry. With the relatively lighter weight compared to a ruck, I can get away with a pack that sits higher, which means it very easily clears a battle belt and pistol holster.
>>
>>35011328
Example of the shelf carrying something unusual. It kind of sucks to do it this way, but if for some reason you need to carry a bunch of fuel on foot, this is the way to do it. The actual pack used as a general purpose ruck though is still subpar.

>>
>>35011328
it's neat that you brought that up, on deployments I never wore the alice pack itself but we used the frame all the time, for extendable ladders, circular saws, or whatever. I saw one used for a giant concrete breaching charge once but I didn't have to carry that piece of shit. I think our EODs might have used one for their robot too but they never carried that thing around either

The airflex are inside, because it lessen the risk of them popping out. Common thing to do.

I wear faggot boots because they are lighter and more comfy to wear, like most SOF's do. Even the M77 jegerboots are said to be faulty, which is why so many of them are sold for less than half the listing price. FSK doesnt want them, MJK doesnt want them, they are a meme.

NVG mounts and dual NVG's are sold in Europe, and can legally be obtained as they're not US made, thus not ITAR restricted.

>>35012849
Yes, they're a great brand alongside MIWO Praszka and Lubliniec (the second one is a bit overpriced though) and Red River. Currahee GR-W combat pants are really good and price wise comparable to Crye Fields, but they don't have stretch material. They're cut similar to Crye ACs, but with a few minor tweaks and additions. All their tactical gear is great too, especially JPC mods and Mojave/Sioux plate carriers.

It doesn't project a distinctly authoritative presence, it just looks like you've got shit all over your uniform.

I understand that they wanted an "in" to the slice of the LE market that wouldn't necessarily buy-in to camo uniforms otherwise, but really cops should either wear solid colors or real camo; trying to split the difference with a black (or blue) pattern that doesn't blend in against any background known to man is retarded.

I'm saying that both black and blue camo are retarded patterns for the same reasons you said, but I'm speaking from the hyptothetical POV of somebody trying to sell the stuff. I think cops would have bought blue Multicam like hotcakes. It makes them feel like they are wearing camo, but sticking to the traditional police color of blue makes it more palatable for wider LEO use.

Don't over estimate cops. I remember being the the Army in the mid-2000s in a job that included talking to LEOs stateside for training, and a shocking number of them were going out of their way to get UCP uniforms and gear (all of it new or custom, no surplus from the military) for their "tactical" units. From speaking with LEO, I have many experiences of them being utterly ignorant of tactics and of being a special sort of breed of mallninja/Fuddlore believer. I'm certain that an established brand like Crye could be very successful pushing blue camo- it would be helped by the fact that it matches existing solid blue uniforms which would seem logical to a tacticool cop mind.

What if their digital camo was somewhat blue but more subdued and skewed towards greys -- surely that could work decently in urban / suburban areas, right? Except of course that cops never need camo patterns and it would probably look like dogshit.

Solid color green/tan/grey operator gear, on the other hand, looks A E S T H E T I C, although I don't have any good examples to post from my PC.
>>
>>35015111
I'm not even going to get into a discussion about effectiveness, because it's irrelevant.

Solid gear may seem aesthetic to you (and it can be), but for many small town cops they want something more "modern" to feel more relevant. I have also in my time seen cops wearing both versions of MARPAT and a UCP with a darker hue similar to what we gave the Iraqi police.

When it comes to gear, uniforms are going to be one of the cheaper things to switch out and the most noticable. People who care about looks the way small town "SRTs" I have met with are going to care about getting a "cool" (to their mind) uniform and a MOLLE plate carrier regardless of it's build quality. These teams go in a lot for Condor tier accessories, where it is visually tacticool even if it is not well built. Just slap on some "modern" camo that makes them feel special.

I lurk a lot at work stateside and even some OCONUS depending on the site. Glad you like it, I'm sure almost anyone would considering the alternatives. I've been neglecting gear and carbines in favor of building an AR-10 with a Krieger barrel as well as getting into reloading so I don't have much to update or take pictures of gear wise. Also with mcnig gone and the summer of the southwest I've barely gone out to do anything other than precision shooting or fucking around with my new Roland special. I do need to get an op-amp circuit built for my Comtac III mic to work right with my baofeng, still though.

>>35016574
It's not really suited for a belt level or duty drop since the harness connects to the magazine pouch pairs.. I just use a safariland 6350do with the supplied dropleg setup and just hike it up as high as it will go, which is a little bit lower than duty drop so it can clear the front pouches. see >>34996810 for a better idea.

>>35016405
I'd get something better tailored for AK mags. I'd just build a vest of your choice using mag pouches like the ones found on this site. You can use any mag in AK pouches if you put spacers at the bottom to adjust their seating height for shorter mags like 308 and ar-15 mags.

>>
>>35021943
You can do a dual tube WP right now though. Just grab two WP tubes and an AB MOD-3 to hold them. Enjoy flexibility of dual tube but the option to break apart into 2x single tube if you have friends.

Assuming you dont get raped on tube cost that will be way under the 14k of a PVS-31
