What kind of accuracy can I expect from a ptr?
>>
>>34989436
2.5-3 moa.

They are not inherently accurate rifles, although the "my PTR shoots .5 inch groups at 100 yards!" crew will chime in shortly.

Remember that to get the G3 to 1 MOA, HK reworked the barrel, trunnion, receiver, bolt head, rollers, trigger, and more.
>>
>>34989722
Anyone who claims .5 MOA out of a PTR is a retard. You can get close to that out of a precision AR10, but the G3 just isn't made for that.

I did see a guy at my range pulling ~1-1.25 inch groups at 100 yards with a bull barrel PTR 91 from a the bench with match grade handloads. We talked a bit and he said it took handloading to get that level of accuracy out of it.
Sample size of one in my experience though.

Start with one then buy the other. If cost is going to be a concern then .308 may not be for you right now

An FAL will probably baseline you at ~1k or a little more and then 20-30 per mag
A PTR can be got as low as 7-800 and mags are 3 bucks

>>
>>34997190
Yes, virtually by default.
The only other BR that can compete with it for ease of mounting an optic is the AR10, and that loses out on weight.
The SCAR is lightweight, accurate, reliable, easy to scope, has great ergonomics, and now that it's been out for a while the aftermarket has caught up so you can get things like 18" barrels, lowers that take normal magazines, and reasonable sling attachment points.
It really can't be beat, if you've got enough cash.
>>
>>34997190
Using the suppressed setting voids the warranty.
Other than that it's breddy gud.

Hey dumbass, I want a beat to shit kit and know exactly what I'd be getting into with one of them. When someone posts that they want something and understand that it has problems the correct response is "ok"

No, not really. You could get a kit built Stg58 or Imbel on an Imbel, grayslake, or even LMT receiver for 1k-1400 at the high end if it came with mags
>>
>>34989431
these Finnish Valmet made M-78's are pretty cool even though they're technically not battle rifles rather automatic rifles
this one is chambered in 7.62 x 51 i believe and has a receiver made from a machined forging

What scopes do you guys use for your battlerifle?

I'm looking to get one but I'm stuck between getting a fixed sight vs adjustable. Any reason you would choose a fixed 4x scope such as an acog over an adjustable 1-6x such as a vortex eagle?
>>
>>35010618
There's very little reason to get a fixed-power scope at this point, unless you're simultaneously a huge poorfag and a glass snob.
>>
>>35010618
Nightforce nxs 2.5-10x32 sometimes a kahles k16i
>>
>>35010689
what if its for the aesthetics of the scope, like an PSO or an old mosin scope

Was looking to get a pso for my vepr but an anon told me that they're not that great for follow up shots or something like that.

Any anons here own a pso? Thoughts?

That makes no sense to me. The 4x models have a wide field of view and it's easy to come back on target while firing since you never really lose sight of it.

The AR should be a M4A1 CQBR clone that's clearly had $SCAR dumped into it, not some Tapcofucked M4gery, but otherwise yes

If you took me back to the 70s id take the AR over the m14 every damn day of the week unless cover was involved.

They aren't that bad either. Sighted in my psl just fine with it. I should have stocked up on a literal boatload of the factory 188 stuff that's been so accurate while it was still ~20c/r.
