ever think o being an old timey detective?
>>34988606
No, because old timey "detective" would be in modern terms:
>An actual detective in the police force
Or...
>hired goon who beats people up and guards shit for a living
Both sound fun and passionate careers but I got my life set for me.

I'd suggest no one to work in private security. It's boring as fuck and the autism levels of both colleagues and administration are out of the roof.
Sure, when you live in a country with 20% unemployment it's better than nothing, but eh.
>>34988606
still plenty of work for PIs

I'm a PI and occasionally dress in a suit for higher status clients. I'm about as Dick Tracy as it gets for 2017.

It's the only reason I want to get a colt detective special with a 3" barrel

Every single time I watch either The Big Sleep or The Big Lebowski, yes. Also, The Long Goodbye.

The gun has a little rust up top. That was after my divorce and wasn't maintaining it.
Other than that, how are you questioning me?
>>34990126
Seems a Dick Tracy would carry something else, what about your wardrobe?
>>34990095
Honestly, that does kids seem like the modern equivalent of a .38 snubnose.
Good on you, anon.

Tell me about the divorce. Was it painful?
I was a detective for two years before I got tired of the 70 hour weeks and constant court bullshit and went back to the road.
At all times unless doing undercover work I wore a gray 3 piece suit with a Akubra Adventurer, with my cuffs, mags, and sidearm all in brown leather. Also depending on the day had a pocket watch in my waist coat.
I was actually amazed by people's reactions with me when wearing that vs plain clothes UC stuff.

how do pis still exist
what do you even investigate
lost cats?
>>34990206
Lots of surveillance mostly, for divorce proceedings, industrial espionage, etc.
I have a friend in Seattle who's a P.I. and he makes almost $200k a year doing work for Microsoft and Boeing

Its not some weird phenomena that people treat you better when you dress nice. Its science. Science that autists and muh manly beard guys refuse to accept.
>>34989399
>Not Chinatown
Nigga is you serious?
>>34990095
Not a p938 or commander 1911 or ppk or beretta tomcat.
>a fucking khar
I hate you so much right now. You're more dick sucky than dick tracy.
Any tips for getting into the biz? 28yo carpenter looking for a career change

Not what i was referring to (i had that same thought as i was typing). I was referencing the modern mentality that unless you're a banker or lawyer it's unmanly to take pride in your clothes. Same people who drink take pride in drinking cheap beer and refuse to accept 9mm as a capable round.

I have a friend who turned to PI work after she got fucking shanked being a security guard. Says most of the time all she does is follow cheating wives around.
