Im still kickin'. That car has never run so good, better gas mileage, more power across the RPM range, at idle its deep and mellow. But as soon as you get on it, it gets real loud, real fast. Only downside right now is the new X pipe is looooowwww, it drug coming out of the driveway the first time out. Everyone is trolling you which isn't surprising. Typically more expensive ARs will have more features like free floated handguards, better triggers, aftermarket furniture, etc. Some very Gucci options like the KAC have features like a proprietary bolt that increases reliability in addition to the other features.

A quality (read: not bargin bin garbage) rifle will function well. I would recommend the M&P Sport II over the AR556 as a budget option but they're more or less the same and are both just fine for a budget rifle.

Buying a prebuilt has the advantage of the assembler knowing what they're doing and proper QC as well as a warranty in case something goes wrong. Building your own you have the advantage of choosing all the parts you want and learning how the parts go together.

I've probably forgotten something but this should get you started.
