To understand cyberpunk you have to know where cyberpunk came from, the 1980's.

Cyberpunk is essentially what people in the 1980's thought the future would look like based on the trends and technological advancement of the times and it was generally speaking a very pessimistic idea. Sure you had stuff like laser rifles, cyborgs, caseless ammo and 10mm since those were the hottest gun memes of the time; but you also had companies becoming so big that they basically started controlling the world, government corruption going to cartoonish levels, population increasing to the point where cities were nothing but skyscrapers packed like sardine cans, maybe throw in a nuclear war a few years back not really making anything post-apocalyptic but just somewhat more shitty. It's a dirty pessimistic take on science fiction where technology is awesome but life is shit.
See Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell for top-tier example of cyberpunk.

And before you say it, yes, modern earth is basically cyberpunk only without any of the cool stuff.

This is why you contract out to a private PD company, plans start at like fifty creds per month for a level 1 non-intrusive pers-sec plan, have a keyed call-chip or implant code, five minutes or less and you've got backup. Even better, get that and a PDW CCW, shit's cheap in NA and the permit is valid basically everywhere. Some PD companies will even give you a discount if you pack. That said, some of the really cheap PD companies literally hire detoxed vets and give them crappy 2030s gear. One time I broke my call-chip because I got pinned down by some drek-gangers in a lower megacity level, and while the PD company responded within three minutes (amazing speed), all they sent was two full-meat dorks with expired ceramic rifle plates and 12 gauge pump shotguns. Either way, keep the TP for rainy days and blow $350kk on a solid MagRail. You can get nice solid fuel gats for half that, but given how much you'll be using it, you should go for something reliable and relatively cheap when it comes to ammo.

The SteelBlow HP+54T looks intimidating and comes factory made with 3 caliber settings. Get a LockSight and some EEP TrackFast rounds, some HV, and always carry some steel sabot in case of skinjobs or adamantium chest implants.

The LAM can be replaced with a smartlinked cybersight. The barrel isn't tough enough for HV but you can get cased APSV that penetrates almost as well, but at about 10% higher price. Ditch the suppressors, they don't work well with any modern ammo.
