Why isn't this gun discussed more often?
>>
>>34980694
It's neat but not a game changer, striker fags don't like the hammer, hammer fags don't like the slide mounted safty.
>>
>>34980694
i have one. i like it. not sure how long it will last as the slide rails have been showing some wear after 1000 shots.
>>
>>34980694
The 'Medium Compact' one looks like a nice piece of kit.
But I think it's kind of overshadowed by the fact that when people are interested in Beretta pistols, commonly the 92 and 96 series come to mind, they want that slide-cut and tilting-block action. I think also a lot of people think of metal frames when looking at Beretta pistols.

I'll say that I appreciate that the lawyer text is small and subtle, Ruger could take after that, then I would fanboy over them even harder (how I love their wheelguns).

>>34980724
I don't mind slide-mounted safeties, the idea that you'd accidentally would engage it is just an old wives tale.
>>
>>34980724
Can't you change it to a decocker only though?
>>
>>34980757
you're better off just leaving the safety off. There's a tiny ball bearing and spring you remove from the safety lever that inevitably fucks off into out space when you take it out.
>>
>>34980694
The only reason i don't own one is that I think it's ugly. Style matters.
>>
>>34980752
I agree there's nothing mechanically wrong with slide mounted safeties but one must concede that they are ergonomically inferior to frame mounted safeties/decockers in most cases.
>>
>>34980694
It's neat because rotating barrel, but it's also lack luster in a few areas like ergos and aftermarket support. If it had a frame mounted safety and better grip it would likely be a much bigger deal.

>Why isn't this gun discussed more often?

Because it's obscure as it is along with /k/ spouting pointless buzzwords like >slide mounted safety

It's the same shit over again about the fucking gun
>blah blah blah slide mounted safety even though I've never handled one let alone know how to use a DA/SA gun blah blah blah
>always have to tell retards that you can convert it to a Type G easily

I have 3,000 rounds in one of mine, they are reliable as fuck and the Compact version shoots as flat as a fullsize gun.

>>34980734
>i have one. i like it. not sure how long it will last as the slide rails have been showing some wear after 1000 shots.

>>
>>34980734

The rails are more durable than they look. I was kind of concerned about mine as well.

It bothered me enough to polish the tops of the rails, and use a little TW25B grease. Problem solved, they're looking good after a solid 3 years of use.
>>
>>34980757
yes, and they make decocker only models as well (as always, the g model)

I actually like the px4, but there are always other guns I want to buy more.
>>
>>34980694
EDC full size 45. Love it. Tons of rounds through it, enough to have to replace spring assembly. Contacted customer service and they sent one for free. I would trust it with my life.
>>
Why do people go apeshit at the idea of the safety being on the slide, feeling they need to replace it with a decocker?

Moreover, why do some people feel like it's mandatory to decock the gun between each target? That's just gay.
>>
>>34980835
Slide mounted safety isn't a buzzword you poof.
It's a technical term, and some people don't like them.

>3000 rounds through mine

I want proofs. Post worn in gun faggot.
>>
>>34980927
So they don't put the gun into safe when racking the slide. Also because a safety on a da/sa is completely superfluous.

They decock the gun so that they can practice their double action first shot, single action second shot transition. This is the hardest thing to get right on a gun like a px4.

If you weren't so noguns you'd know this by now, faggot
>>
>>34980927
Some people get trained on the idea that you should train with and use the simplest form of operation in case you turn retarded mid-combat. Something like a slide safety is something that could accidentally engage in combat when you inevitably rack the slide like a mongoloid in the heat of combat.

Never heard of that second part. Sounds like a practice-only thing where you get used to the DA pull of a DA/SA.
>>
>>34980927
>some people feel like it's mandatory to decock the gun between each target

that sounds like people training with the double action trigger pull, something you ought to be decent with.
>>
>>34980694
>Not as sexy or as comfy as a beretta 92 for a range gun.

>still too thick and oversized for concealed carry

Gee bill i don't know ...
>>
>>34980982
Only mouthbreathing knuckledragging pantshitting retards carry without a round chambered.
>>
>>34980999
Its the easiest and most concealeable full size ever made. I dont know what you mean by comfy on the range but you sound retarded.
>>
>>34980694
I got turned off Beretta after bad juju with the 92 and Nano series. So for me it's the make that's a dealbreaker.
>>
>>34981233
What's up with the Nano? Was considering one.
>>
>>34981247
Its a pocket pistol thats as good as a taurus at best. I love beretta but they dropped the ball on the pocket gun front. This is coming from someome who CCs a jetfire while skateboarding.

>Slide mounted safety/decocker
I rather liked the safety on my Px4. I could easily reach it with my thumb where it's mounted, it's easily manipulated and I'd often use it as a set of cocking wings so I could cycle it like an AR.
>>
>>34980978
>So they don't put the gun into safe when racking the slide.
Never done this.

>Also because a safety on a da/sa is completely superfluous.
Arguably true.

>They decock the gun so that they can practice their double action first shot, single action second shot transition
I don't mean about practice, I mean when people like Karl Kasada say that the intended purpose of having a DA/SA trigger is for, even in combat, decock the gun when transitioning between targets, which to me seems arbitrary and unhelpful at best.

>>34980982
>Some people get trained on the idea that you should train with and use the simplest form of operation in case you turn retarded mid-combat.
Which makes sense to a point, and why I think decocking between each target is fucking gay.

>>34980994
You should practice your DA pull, absolutely, but when you already have a SA pull ready in a real life emergency, why decock?
>>
>>34981608
Ive never heard this anywhere and it's completely retarded for obvious reasons. You should be more worried about midlessly accepting ludicrous ideas because someone on YT said they were good. Anyone can have a YT channel. Posting videos in cargo pants doesn't automatically make someone an expert. In addition, anyone who preaches this technique shouldn't be trusted no matter how much operating they may have very well done.
End Rant.
>>
>>34980694
I carry the SC version and have for 7 years now. Nice to have 15 rounds in a concealed piece. The DA is not bad if you actually accustom yourself with the piece. To each their own.
>>
>>34981233
Bad juju with the 92 huh. Gonna elaborate

I think it looks good. It feels good as well. I like it.

Since a few people talk about slide mounted safety... I've probably triggered it about 3 times while shooting so it's not high on my buy list but it feels great in long sessions and I do enjoy shooting it. (I'm a no guns who rents at the range for fun).

>Why isn't this gun discussed more often?

I think its because a lot of people who favor DA/SA over striker fire guns also don't like polymer (myself included). So more people tend to favor the 92 which is in its own right a really good and really attractive looking gun.

The PX4 is supposedly a really good gun though and so far as polymer guns go its pretty good looking. I'm thinking about getting the subcompact for a carry gun.

I don't understand the nuthugging on the m9. The AESTHETIC of the dustcover and no lawyer rollmark but outside of looks it doesn't offer any benefit that the 92fs does by comparison.

I like the snowman sights better and honestly one of the biggest draws of the 90 series is aesthetics so the dust cover and lack of graffiti is great. Otherwise vertec inox and Centurian

The Nano might have the worst trigger of any new gun on the market. It's also more expensive to superior pocket guns

I have the subcompact. The full size has a rotating barrel and as a result it's hard to put a suppressor on it. The subcompact's barrel doesn't rotate.

I like that it plays well with my CX4. Just realized that I've had it for over two years. Overall, a pretty nice handgun that gets overlooked.
>>
>>34980694
>Why isn't this gun discussed more often?

Real answer: It doesn't have any high profile military contracts and isn't featured in movies and video games. Any gun that does not meet at least one of these two criteria is "shit" in the minds of most of the mallninjas that make up /k/.
>>
If Glock were to release Gen V with a rotary barrel people would HOP on that dick faster than sliced bread.

Do think the px4 needs to release a new generation that makes it less scifi and more ergonomic. Like a CZ/1911 angeled grip and a steyr m9 slide with the roto barrel. Maybe a aluminum frame to boot as well.
>>
>>34980694
I have one in 40s&w.

I bought mine from Bud's for $700 years ago. Only major downside to .40 S&W is the 14 round magazines. Yes, there are 17 round magazines but I'm not spending the money for just three rounds.
