Been looking to buy a gun for a while. Army dada recommended a m4 or ak, told me he would teach me how to use either one of them. I've only ever shot a .22 and am looking to buy a cheap gun just to get me started $800~ range

A budget AR is fine. You can find them starting in the $400 range, but what you posted is a good choice at a good price. Spend time down at the range practicing until you're comfortable firing it and can hit a target reliably.

Has everything you need to get started. Upgrading in the future means you don't have to go through the process of dealing with an FFL since you now have a lower receiver to slap new parts and uppers on.
