So let me start this by saying that I've only recently got my own place in South Carolina. Keep that in mind when recommending things to buy and modifications to make.

Anyways, I'm not a novice with firearms, and I've shot many in my time. However, whenever I moved out I only got to keep my .22 and a 20-Gauge break action. Not really worth mentioning.
But, I'm going to inherit my grandfather's SKS soon. I have shot it before but don't have many specific details to offer.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or other recommendations in a similar vein?
Seriously, I don't want to end up making any sort of grave mistake with this. The rifle is in good condition and I hadn't planned to make any adjustments, but I am completely open to doing so.

Depends on your interests and goals, what do you want from a rifle? Accuracy, Dependability, weight, balance, Fun, and other factors should be included in your decision. If you have any LGS, and you do, go to them and finger fuck all the rifles you see, then research the ones you like.

Honestly a stock sks is all you need. Youre gonna wanna go get some stripper clips though.

this desu.
If you have a need (home defense, sporting) then research in that vein. If you want to collect, define what you like. Need more info for recommendations.
Go to PSA and get a cheap ar while the get'n is good. Around here you cant really shoot past 100 yards long range stuff and super duper high power scopes are kinda dumb. If you want a bolt gun a scout actually makes a lot of sense out here.
