The AR-18 and AR-180 variants are overhyped, overrated trash. They are fine if you manage to somehow get one for $350 (not impossible, someone on a facebook group recently got one for $750 transferred with a Mepro M21 red dot) but for anything more they're just a 5.56 piston gun with really poor external features (wobbly stock prone to breaking, wobbly handguard with slick finish that provides no grip, poor accuracy, etc.

Is, the handguard wobble is unacceptable

Whoah. Youre part of that group too?
>>34970821
what rifles have you handled exactly?
I'm aware that the AR-180B is trash and that many sterlings are poorly fit; I suppose you have only handled a sterling.

By who? It was always intended as a more budget oriented rifle. It does get credit for basically being the progenitor of several modern rifles which it does deserve. With that said, I love my little Armalite.
Theyre really nwat rifles with some history. For a collector, its a good addition.
If we're talking utility, you can do much better with an ar15 or really any other modern 5.56 rifle. First and foremost, theyre a collectors piece

For the price people want for the rifle? Yes.

What?

Several different ones. Never personally handled a Howa but I've handled Costa Mesas and Sterlings both of the higher and lower quality.

By poorfags who want them but cannot afford them.
