Just googled some shit and look at this goddamn thing: http://www.raytheon.com/capabilities/products/pike/

if the regular 40mm round allegedly costs ~70 burgerbux...

also they're only 5m accurate at 2km with a blast radius of 10m.

Right but think about it. Imagine anti vehicle variants and such. Instead of one guy having a rocket launcher of some kind, you can have several guys with simple 40mm launchers underbarrel, each carrying one or two Pike missiles. Sure it's expensive, but consider the benefit if they were up against something other than insurgents hiding in rubble.

they'd really have to fix the accuracy for that.

>40mm anti tank round
What is this, a tank for ants?
name a better looking setup
I've been thinking of building my first ar-15 with that heat shield, but it seems like the companies that used to make them don't anymore and I'm having trouble finding a reputable place that sells them. What can I do?

if you're talking anti-vehicle, you'd probably be better off arming most guys with a lightweight disposable single shot like a LAW, much less weight overall if you consider how much 40mm grenades weigh.
Where is a 40mm (("flare")) gun civilians can buy?

eBay? I have a carbine M203 handuard that I'm not using. Neither it not the rifle version are shielded on the bottom, though. Unless you have a launcher you're going to have to wear a glove on your off hand.

Make one yourself, it seems reasonably doable.

its sheet metal bro. Get a block of wood, a vice, and get to bending. Once you have the shape you like, go from there. learn the art.
