Worked with a shipping company down in guatemala. Paid to watch over a cargo ship while they load and unload containers, and make sure nobody stows away on board. About 70k a year, plus bonus for being a roustabout. Nothing remarkable to add. Sometimes we deliver around South Africa and take potshots at pirates, but they tend to steer clear of ships flying flags from the Americas.
>>
>>34967578
It looks like a interesting way to make a living. Did you had the chance to go around the cities that the ship went to deliver? Also, would they accept an army soldier isntead of a seaman?
>>
>>34967649
In guatemala, yes. I rather enjoyed central america. But we stayed on the boat in africa. The only thing out there was disease. And if you got sick in africa, you'd be quarantined if you tried to come home.

They probably wouldn't care what branch you served in. But I'm mexican, so I'd check in your home country for any maritime security jobs.

Shit mang, that would be difficult as they are not willing to waste resources/time on training civilians, but rather take veterans that already have the know-how, but there are some sercurity companies and i don't know about all their policies

Fuck, bamboozled again. Well, things are going pretty damn crazy in venezuela, so it would'nt be so far fetched that mercs were around to help govermment keep peace. if it was'nt for their utter lack of real money, i guess they would try something like that
>>
>>34967828

Fuck dude. Do the time and don't whine about it. In my company you have to work for them doing shit jobs for min. of 2 years before they consider you for a tier 3-4 contract. A lot of clients now want someone with over 5 years experience in security as well as time in the service or as a L.E.O.

If you think you can just run and gun as a civi, go on a war tourist group out of Ukraine.
>>
>>34967904
>past my time for mil
>just been working normal armed security
I just wanna step up man, and maybe shoot some somalis
>>
>>34967913
>Normal Armed Sercurity
Well, depending on what sercurity courses you did, you could go to one and that shitty jobs for a couple of years. Depending on your ag,e you can still enlsit for the foreign Legion, they take men up to 40 years, but you'll need to learn some french
>>
>>34967951
Even the shitty jobs are jobs tho. Not expecting 6 figures but it's something moderately interesting and pays well enough right?
>>
>>34967913

Was over in Uganda for a year during the Libya shit. Had to drop shit off into the fucken country that should be great with their location.

Avoid Africa. The contracts unless paid by westerners are not going to pay out. Got screwed out of money from government agencies and you just have to bend over and take it.

If you like explosive shits and flies all over your meat from the market, go ahead. The power is only on for 8-10 hours a day and you choke on exhaust from genies running all night.
>>
>>34967085
Go to school retard, work a part time job and fuck 18 year olds and get paid. Quit dreaming of being a cool guy oper8or with l33t skillz.
>>
>>34967982
How does that work? Are MSO's working contract to contract rather than salaried by a company and sent off when the company wants to send them off? Or is it a matter of finding your place?
>>
>>34967988

No one will take you if your under 25 with out the schooling and experience.

It's ok to dream but it's a long term goal. Most contractors take jobs because they didn't realize that their infantry skills don't really translate into the civi world. The stupid one's who barely got into the ARMY or Marines are not the ones who are on contracts.
>>
>>34967974
It'll depend on some factors, for example what agency you will work for, previous experience, what places are you going be deployed, etc. You could get around 50k during the previous years
>>
>>34968022

I was on a joint business venture with a couple buddies of mine. We had the contacts and logistics but Libya happened and the contracts dried up due to western giant contractors under cutting us and bribing the officials of all the contracts we had.

Can't blame them. More men and equipment for 20 - 30% less from the big guys.
>>
>>34967974
>but it's something moderately interesting and pays well enough right?
no, most security jobs pay around $10-$14 an hour. unless your SF or SAS don't expect to make a career out of it
>>
>>34968067

Shit. Work hard and do over time and you can get 50k in the West. Why get dissenter and the chance to get shot up for 50k? Not worth it.
>>
>>34968030
> without the schooling and experience.

When you say schooling what do you exactly mean. Well, i do hve experience, i've been Deployed to Haiti and stayed there 6 months
>>
>>34968096
>When you say schooling what do you exactly mean
a lot of companies prefer you have a 4 year degree
>>
>>34968093
As i told you, lad. If you dont have the experience you wont get as much cash as a veteran Spec Ops. Payment can go up to 700/day, but it's heavily afflicted by many factors, just like >>34968073 said
>>
>>34968096

Get a degree in something tangible. Accounting, Financing, Business, Logistics, Human Resources, and or a L.E.O. degree with one of the others as a minor.

I have a degree in International Business and am currently in school for B.S. in Accounting.

I'm confortable working part time making $25-30 an hour locally and some times being flown out but it is with my old company and they cherry pick who gets these positions. Out of 180 employees there are only 9 of us who are Agents.
>>
>>34968105
Mm, really? even for sercurity jobs? curious...
If that's the case, then i' think i'll go with the "main" plan for now and get a degree
>>
>>34968142
>Mm, really? even for sercurity jobs? curious...
I know, it sucks unless you have a really technical degree or certificates like flight training or helicopter license. Helo pilots get picked up quickly and get paid a lot
>>
>>34968138
MMm. You think a degree in economics would help with my objective, anon?
>>
>>34968142

There are plenty of moron infantry or wannabe cops who join security companies. The owners and supervisors can weed out those people who are in it for perceived glory or bragging rights. They want people who are a cut above the others having intelligence, ethics, strong morals, and skills.
>>
>>34968152
Fuck. It was my objective to become a helicopter pilot when i still wanted to stay in the army, but then i discorvered it was near impossible and i started to lsoe interest staying stationed doing fuckall at my QG after Haiti. Anyway, thanks for the advice, anon
>>
>>34968170
you could always join the Guard and have your state pay for training. Most contracting companies don't mandate combat training for helicopter pilots.
>>
>>34968153

It's like most jobs in the private sector. They could care less about the degree if it's something that is tangible and relevant. If you have a women's study degree or a minority public relations degree, forget getting past being a mall cop since your classified as a special snow flake.
>>
>>34968196

Fuck, it's not the same thing like in the US. Only thing i could do in that case is try to join the Police or Firefighters and see if i could get the training there

>>34968204
Hey, good thing then. I can retake College and finally get the degree. that certianly would be good motivation to go back. Once again, thanks for the advice my man
>>
>>34968226

>>
>>34968226

No problem. Can't sleep any way since I can't shut off my brain tonight. Shit happens when you receive experience.

If this is the "armed guard", get your equip strait every day, look sharp, and get outside the company training like become a N.R.A. instructor, marshal arts club, or I.D.P.A. league. Show the company you are willing to do things outside the company to make you more valuable to them or others.
>>
>>34968281
That's me actually, I've just been lurking

I already attend some of the competitive shooting local to me so I'll try looking more into MSO stuff, pay sounds like less than what I've heard from other people tho
>>

Have family friends in Salto. They say that the country is going to shit. Their kids escaped to America and are citizens now and don't want to return.
>>
Well guys, i'm OP and i'm glad that i found some contractors around here. Thanks for all the advices, stories and tips on what to do. Also >>34968290 don't worry my man, let's work hard and make this happens

Once again thanks for all the info /k/onrades. I'm out
>>
>>34968290

Yeah the days of 100k per year jobs are not around anymore since the whole world has blown up and their are former highly experienced former SF people running around. Allot are from S. Africa who will work for 20-30k a year people would do for 100k during the Black Water days.

It doesn't help that the D.O.D. had to pull back the no bid contracts.
>>
>>34968308
Salto? i'm not sure where is this city...
Well, they're not wrong about the country going to shit, tho. If the goverment keeps fucking up like it is now we might reach Venezuela levels of chaos in a year
>>
>>34967819
I fucking loved Mercs 2
>>
>>34968327
rip, I already make 25 doing what I do now. Guess I'll just stick this out for a bit longer before moving onto what I was originally intending to move onto then. Thanks for the insight man
>>
>>34968308
Oh! Salto is in São Paulo!. Well they're lucky that they do'nt live in rio now. Shit's going fucking crazy over there. police dying everyday and the Estate is about to send army reiforcments to the city
>>
>>34968330

It's the state. They are in the city of Sao Paulo. We are going their next year but they refuse to take us to Rio since it's so dangerous.

Saw a few months ago the locals shot down a police helicopter!
>>
>>34968344

Had it the wrong way around.

I love it down there! The women in the "red" area are beautiful! Can get a "dat"e with a super model hot 10 for $100.
>>
>>34968367

>>

Not big enough
>>
>>34968349
As i told you, shit's fucked up in Rio. Drug dealers have more weapons than motherfucking texans while the population can't even have a shitty revolver in their homes without a fuckton of bureacracy. I glad i don't live there. If you ever go to Rio, go only to the turistic points, never EVER enter deeper in the city.
>>
>>34968342

Yes it is fun about 20% of the time vs. 5% of the time at your regular job. Get a good degree and become one of the shot callers for a company. That's the path I'm going down now. To old for the shit. Have a family now to look after who need me.

Don't mean to get all serious but that's life. Take it from someone who's going through the transition. Love the action but can't pay the bills like I used to be able to working making 90-93k a year. The market has changed and you have to change with it or be left behind.
>>
>>34968381

Any thing your into. Have to be careful since they start pretty early on the estogin sometimes and are hard to tell the difference.
>>
Someone give a story on how to get a entry level hiring position... besides no procurement of resumes, references, and or past achievements.
>>
>>34968417
what kind of a job do you want? I've done ATC work in Iraq
>>
>>34968382

Don't plan on going to Carnival there. Just want to relax with the senpai out on their ranch and eat some good barbacoa and get buzzed from cachaca.

Are you a snowflake? Do you think you can get what ever you want without trying? If you want to get a life, live it and don't expect anything for nothing.
>>
>>34968430
Good thing to do, lad. Ask for someone there to prepare some Caipirinha for you. If you like cachaça, you'll love Caipirinha

Yep! I love it but didn't know how to spell it out. I like it allot but forget to order it or don't want to ask someone to make it for me at their house.

Are sushi places still pretty popular down their? Kind of miss the super fresh sashimi they make.
>>
>>34968455

That's about right. If you just want to make good money, there are companies who look for specialists like mechanics, clerks, big rig drivers, or even refrigeration specialist to work in hot zones.
>>
>>34968496
You can find Japanese restaurants in basicly every corner, my man. I've never knew this was brazilian thing to have so many japanese restaurants everywhere, i tought it was a common thing, but yeah you'll have no trouble finding fresh japanese food if you are in the bigger cities

Well laddie, ie xtended myself too much and i'll have to wak up in a couple of hours, so 'ill be leaving. Once again guys, thanks for all the hints and advices. Take care /K/ONRADES!

I don't want a job I'm fine working as a car sales man for 9-5. Another questions are the hearing decibels requirement for a health qualification the same as a merchant mariner? Maybe something like French foreign legion is more relax on health hindering subjects like herpes...

Am I likely to get hired with a bachelor's in criminology and military flight experience(heli)? How much can I expect to get payed?
>>
Don't bother, unless you've got something particularly sharp and up to date that has private industry requirements.

I contracted, one way or another, on and off from the early 1970s through to 2008. Fortunately I picked up a lot prior to that and throughout that time kept a foot in the official side of things. I managed to span the back end of the, genuinely amateurish, mercenary era into the more proficient and skilled PSC arrangement we have today.

>where did you got deployed
First time round was semi-official, in the form of the Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces. From there I did a few places in Africa as part of a very shaky group, though nothing particularly exciting, Central America in the 1980s and Asia around that time too. Croatia in 1991/2, Nagorno Karabakh in 1993/4 and a few other shorter engagements again in Latin America. After that point I took a very strict hands off role, though I did get to see Iraq in 2003. I ran my own section for much of the 90s and 2000s.

My advice (if you are wanting a career in private security): Go to university, get some foreign service (diplomatic, security) experience and use it to complement the military end of things. All the proper companies are in the full spectrum game, they offer the complete package. They'll expect you to know the ins and outs of SSR, a language or two, proven management skills if you're to make a career of it.
>>
>>34968336

Same. That game had so much wasted potential.
