Which ones better?

Better in which way?
1911 was obviously easier to ship out and make and was in the side that won
Luger imo looks nice and has much tighter tolerances
Both shoot different cartridges
stupid question
The Colt was invented by a Mormon and the Luger was invented by a Episcopalian

One was used by only a couple world militaries and then disappeared outside of uncommon collectors items.
One is still used by a few militaries, and by numerous competitors.
Which one do you think is better?

The 1911, I guess. There's really no advantage to using the luger.
1911 has proven itself and has been studied, copied, mimicked and borrowed from for a century. It was also used by the good guys in WWII.
Luger was used by the other good guys in WWII, and was responsible for the introduction of the best pistol round ever developed. It's ammunition is superior to the 1911's, but the gun itself is not.
I give it to the 1911, but the Luger is still an impressive, important weapon.

The guilt is what makes it thrilling tho
Lugers are beautiful and finicky. They can be high maintenance, and they are very particular about their magazines. Thirty Luger is a zippy little bastard. 9 has held on better.
1911s are like Legos. Use the part you want and it'll work. It's served more places than the Luger ever did. Generally not finicky and fire a good round.
