Trying to get information before the official release. So far I've found nothing other than this poster. Anyone have details on what the major changes are?

They seen to be listed on the bottom of the poster.

Wait, so is this the new Glock model they've been teasing for a reveal? Fucking Gen 5 G17/19?

Single pin design is an easily overlooked detail. Also I'm pretty sure they're changing the spring used for the takedown nub to a coil spring instead of whatever spring they were using.

Why are companies so against gputting 1913 rails on pistols? Also, after all this they still have plastic sights? They are so obsessed with it having straight lines the grip texture and slide ridges have to suffer. I have a Glock 34 Gen 3 and until they make some real changes I'm not going to upgrade.

Also, HK is superior. Buy a damn P2k.
>>

>>
If Glock REALLY wanted to impress everyone they'd extend the metal skeleton in the frame out to the nose in order to prevent pig nose.
>>
>>34954207

1. Bought a p2k and the mag release pin kept walking out on me.
2. 1913 rails are pointless on a pistol and hurt when you shove it up your ass.
3. The texture on the gen3 sucks while the texture on the gen4 is completely amazing.
4. The different recoil spring in the gen4 vs. gen3 makes the gen4 better feeling to shoot... like an HK.
>tl:dr your opinion sucks.
>>
>>34953606
The only questionable thing is the flared mag well if you plan to conceal carry. I've never had issues getting mag into Gen3/4 pistols, so I see no need for this change. Plus you can add a flared mag well if you want to compete or be tacticool. But I like all other features.

The gen 4 texture and finish suck balls. The recoil spring does nothing special and neither does hk. You have the opinions of a fanboy bandwagoner. I have actually owned all of the above. The only recoil system that is truly special is the px4 rotating barrels. There is almost no recoil amd follow up shots are more accurate than the first shots.

Every range who is to demo them this weekend should have gotten them today with literature for the demo public demo on the 26th. They pretty much incorporated the features of the 42/43 into their other models. My receiving guy processed them and I looked one over, but I haven't handled it in detail and taken it apart completely. Pretty much just pulled the slide off, looked at it and put it back on.

However from what I saw, I can confirm from the literature provided...
-A new "tougher finish"
-Champfers on the slide for ease of holstering.
-Changes in the rifling (Forgot to look this over... Hopefully it's still poly but chances are they make it traditional because they noticed everyone swapping to aftermarket ones. )
-Longer recoil spring assembly
-Reinforced forward notch for the recoil spring assembly
-A smoother trigger similar to the G42/43 (redesigned crucifix)
-Flared magwell, larger opening in general. The frame almost looks like it has a very low profile magwell built in.
-No finger grooves
-Changes in the safety plunger (more like 42/43)
-Ambidextrous slide release using 42/43 coil spring instead of single wire spring, removing need for two pins with locking block. (Wondered why they went back to the gen1/2 single pin.)
-Magazines have an extended front lip
-Magazine well cutout in the front to assist in removing stuck mags because retards keep putting those fucking plugs in the back one.

They did, in fact skimp on the front serrations. Chances are it will be available eventually but they couldn't make it happen fast enough to get on this sig butthurt bandwagon and win over as many sigfags as possible.

Chances are the blue label model will have front serration just like the recently released blue label only gen4 19/17. According to this leaked invoice from August 9th the blue label gen5's will be equipped with Ameriglo's fancy new BOLD sights.

Long story short...

The 17M was successful enough with its trials for Glock to say "fuck it" and pull Gen5 out of their ass to spite Sig.
>>
>>34956200
BOOF, do they make a star wrench back plug and 2032 battery holder that would allow me to carry what I need to change the batter on my Vortex Viper in the butt of the grip?
I don't understand why not if they don't. Relying on a battery makes me nervous. What if I end up in the Alaskan wilderness with my Glock 40, get dropped out of a plane and have to hike 50 miles back and on the second day I get attacked by a bear but my battery died the day before so I can't aim good and die. A back plug with star wrench and 2032 battery holder could save my life.
>>
>>34954663
Apparently, there's actually a reason for Glock "pig nose".

No fucking idea. I don't know why people use those plugs anyway.

Guess you can always get this and figure something out. Otherwise just get a solid plug and a soldering iron and make a hole and a slot in it to hold them.
>>
>>34956294
Okay BOOF. I'll do it. I'll cut down a star wrench and glue a block of wood into the bottom (top?) end of that back plug container and let it set. I'll use hard wood so it's strong, oak or maybe ebony idk. Then I'll drill a hole in it one size too small and hammer my cut down star wrench in it with epoxy or something. That way I can change my battery if I'm stuck out in SHTF for multiple days and my battery dies. It probably won't help with an EMP though, idk.

Hmm... I wonder if a 2032 will fit in it. You know I would just feel more comfortable leaving it turned on if I had an extra battery handy.

Apparently some US government entity or secret squirrel whatever the fuck force made it a requirement for Glock that the muzzle end of the gun had to be able to fit in a human eye socket for fuck knows why.

Glock apparently said whatever and just barely tweaked their dust cover dimensions to meet this requirement.

I disagree. The Glock slide catch is positioned perfectly for me. It's too far forward to accidentally engage it, like I can with Sigs and some HKs, but it's far enough back and just high enough in profile that I can use it to release the slide without shifting my grip.

>>New finish
>What was wrong with the old one? What's so great about the new one?
I ***think*** that Glock actually already switched to a new finish on their barrels recently, which resembles DLC as I've come to be familiar with it from other companies. I'm not sure if they are actually going to change anything on the slide, but the finish they've been using on Gen 4 slides is a little delicate.

Glock has been asleep at the wheel for so long in the R&D department. From the pointless Gen4, to blowing a military contract, and now companies like CZ are making similar, but better in every way, handguns and taking a huge bite out of their demographic of people who want a plain jane $500 polyframe striker 9.

I don't guess there's much demand for an IWB concealment holster for a Glock 40 with dot. I couldn't find one I liked anyway, so yeah I ripped apart a desantis insider that I didn't use anymore and stitched it onto some 3" wide belt leather; saved some money too.

>make glock clone except fatter and heavier

Woah...so this...is the power of CZ...

>still have to pull trigger for disassembly

This is literally not a problem unless you're a god damn moron that doesn't know how to clear his weapon before he disassembles it.

So is there any big difference between the G17 and the G19, disregarding ease of concealment? Don't know which one to get.
>>
>>34965015
IMHO, get the smallest one that fits your hand fine. My reasoning is better concealment and it doubles (or triples if you go for a 26) my options for magazines.
>>
>>34965015
Literally just the size. Everything else is exactly the same. Just like any other Glock (different calibers obviously?

longer slide on the 17 gives increased sight radius and slightly softer shooting. The shorter slide and barrel on the 19 *might* give you more reliable extraction. The gun Glock delivered to the MHS trial had a 17 grip length with a 19 sized slide, presumably for that reason.

There's a whole shit load of 9mm/.40/.45 carbines out there that use Glock mags. Glock makes a carbine that uses something else... That would be stupid.

Thanks, BOOF.

I never understood why Glockfags get triggered over front serrations and finger grooves. The front serrations aren't necessary but are a nice touch and the finger grooves on both the VP9 and Glock feel fine to me.

If i ever start a business I'm going to hunt down the Glock marketing team because holy shit, they got it right.
>>
Why might no finger grooves be a good thing? Are they uncomfortable?
>>
>>34965285
Variations in hand shape and grip style cause them to end up in the exact wrong places sometimes. It can be very frustrating. The finger grooves were the only thing keeping me from buying a Glock, but now I'm considering a Gen 5.
>>
>>34954423
Just remove the rear site and put the RMR in it's place, I did it was a Gen 4.
>>
>>34965284
I I like the finger grooves and you just said front serrations are unnecessary. I don't like the front end taper, either.
>>
Glock Perfection: so perfect, we made five generations of it.
>>

>I wouldn't be surprised
It's irrelevant what would or wouldn't surprise you. Did you notice that the 17L and 24 are STILL only available as a Gen 3? It could be years or never before Glock brings front serrations to the Gen 5.

Unnecessary, but a nice touch. I like them.
