Looking into getting a CC soon. Anybody here own a Bersa Thunder? I've read some reviews, and watched some videos on it, but that isn't the same as actually talking to somebody who owns one. Anybody here got any insight?
>>
>>34952338
They're reliable, cheap, and effective. That being said, a larger 9mm pistol would be much more effective.
>>
My friend has one
I hate shooting it
I have large hands and getting a good trigger squeeze is hard, the recoil is funky, and the sights suck. That said, it's decent for the price
>>
>>34952374
I haven't really had much luck finding ANY small gun that is easy to shoot for people with big hands.
>>
>>34952338
While makarovs are cheap, I'd get one instead, since they're a simplified design.

That said, it's not a pocket gun. Nor is the P64, blowback 380s (or higher) require considerable mass for the slides, and they need metal frames as the barrels are fixed.

Obviously giant hipoints need not apply.
>>
>>34952338

Bersa Firestorm owner here, was $300 after fees & taxes (on sale @ $250). Nice little 380, no issues
>>
I have decent sized hands (6') and I shot perfect quals for my CCP with a .380 thunder

i prefer the thunder over the lc9 and the new babby vp9
>>
Have you guys heard of the Lifecard 22LR? Its a one shot pistol the "size of a credit card"
>>
>>34952355

>bersa
>reliable

pick 1

bersa's are gr8 if you just want to carry it and maybe show your dick to somebody

but if you want to actually shoot it for training it is well worth your $$ to get a better quality piece

even HIPOINT is more reliable than bersa
>>
>>34952734
I carry a mak in my pocket. You are wrong.

Ruger LCR makes for a decent pocket gun

The Makarov is heavy for its size, but pocket carry is doable with it

I've been carrying my LCP2 pretty much all summer now. So fucking easy to carry, just slip it in my pocket and forget it's there. That being said I don't really like carrying something that only gives me 6 + 1 of .380 and isn't easy for fun to shoot. I'm either going to find a way to make my Glock 19 more comfortable or get something that fills a good "in between" role (looking at the Walther PPS or Glock 43 mainly)

Still it's nice to have something that I will ALWAYS be able to carry as long as it's legal. I can't make this thing print if I try.
>>
>>34956002
>LCR makes for a decent pocket gun
LCR+sticky holster, can confirm.
>>
>>34952338
I want one too but, I'm not really sure where to get one?
>>
>>34955962
Just because you can fit it in your autism cargos doesn't make it a pocket gun.
>>
>>34956562
Just because you are willing to settle for pockets that can't hold anything bigger than an altoids tin, doesn't mean the rest of us have to.
>>
not quite "pocket", but CC: i'm struggling not to hit buy now on a S&W 6906 right now for $370. Any reason i shouldn't, /k/?
>>
>>34957912
I don't own a 6906 but I do own a full sized 4506 and a 5904, which is a blued alloy frame 5906.
The ambi safety/decocker on these things is big and sharp, which might not lend too well for CC and is a little bit annoying to rack. You could also probably get it a little bit cheaper than that assuming it's OTD price, and the 5904 should basically be the same thing but cheaper and blued if those matter to you.
>>
>>34957936
thanks for the info. my thoughts are: I'm ambi/lefty so i like the slide release/safety of the 5906/4906 type guns. I don't plan on CCing it initially, but i'm thinking for a first handgun it covers a lot of the things i want, and i hate glocks/glock copies/most modern polymer handguns. Something old school like this was more my speed and while probably not the best CC gun, it's somewhat suitable for it if i decide to get my permit down the track. I like the 5906 but figure the 6906 is smaller, and i like the stainless/alloy finish more than the blued options. And that price is not including $10 shipping, but is the cheapest i've seen em for online. I've seen em $400+ recently.

I'm a lefty too, so I generally like ambi safety, it's more the profile of that safety is uncomfortable.

If you like the general handling and style of the 59/69 series guns, you should check out the Lionheart LH9C. It's a compact model of a refreshed Daewoo DP51, which is a Korean 59 series clone with an ambi frame safety instead of ambi slide safety/decocker.
It also has this triple action or double action plus thing which lets you carry hammer down, but with the spring tension still there, giving you a DA-length pull with SA-weight where the first stage of the trigger pull sets the hammer back.

Here's my DP51, for comparison.
>>
>>34955944
I mean, yes, Hi-Points are actually reliable as fuck. So are Bersas. As long as they're not stupidly designed (and ultimately, neither is), it's pretty hard to fuck up a straight-blowback gun.
Meme harder, faggot.
>>
>>34956847
Nah I CC a G17 and I've carried my mak plenty but it is not at all a pocket gun.

I've got pocket guns for that purpose.

Autistic question for y'all.

What are some good, specifically metal-frame locked-breech pocket pistols? Bonus points for not using a Browning-based action.
>>
>>34952338
I sometimes open carry one, like everyone says it's a good gun for what you pay compared to other things in that price range but it's nothing special.

Thanks for the info. Incidentally the first time I actually heard of those daewoo handguns was earlier today on youtube. I'll have to look further into them. I'm also interested in the single stack compact S&W models like the 3904, 3906 etc but they seem to be exceedingly rare for some reason? I saw one at a gun show recently for only $250 in stainless, and i'm kicking myself for not getting it but i felt i should do some more research.
>>
>>34956847

So what did you do, rip out your pockets and sew purses in their place? I own a Mak, it is nowhere even close to a pocket gun.

>>34956062
I also have the LCP2. One of the best triggers on a pocket gun. Easy to pocket. Fucking sucks to shoot because it has no mass. Hasn't been a problem yet, but it has an internal hammer, and there is no safety (other than a trigger dingus) or a firing pin block, so I'm a little nervous it's going to kill me. I'd kind of like a p238/938 but don't think I'll like a the safety or hammer protrusion on a pocket gun, and it's a little bigger and heavier.
>>
>>34957912
Do it. I've got a 6904 and it's very nice
>>
>>34958464
As long as you use a kydex pocket holster that completely covers the trigger you're fine

I carry a Kel-tec P-32 pocket very often. I don't care what people say about caliber size, .32 acp worked for people for almost a century and I care about comfort more than making enormous holes in my target
>>
>>34955198
Its a trash bellypistol
If you are going to murder someone with something like that, make a zipgun.

No defensive use at all for the thing
>>
>>34958464
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-86jXEgWBjM

Its not as unsafe as people are saying it is.
The half cock wont let it fire if its dropped, it + the glock like trigger safety will do an ok job of keeping it from firing from the trigger lightly snagging on something.

I pocket carry one and its great.

I have one and it's a great range toy. Almost the exact same size as my Makarov but much lighter. I had one problem when I lost the rear site and screw at the range and Bersa sent me a new one no questions asked. So good customer support as well. That being said I wouldn't use it for concealed carry because you can get a much more powerful round in the same size pistol. I usually carry a Kahr PM9 which is a little smaller, thinner, and lighter then the Bersa and is more powerful. When I want to carry 380 because the Kahr is too big I take a Ruger LCP2

JNCOs were unironically the coolest jeans around when I was in school.
They were made in the USA and quite expensive, especially for people nowadays who are used to buying $15 jeans at Costco.

With how new generations look towards former ones and fall into the Nostalgia thing, they will be popular again before you know it.
Just like everyone hated the 80s unitl 3-4 years ago and now its trendy.

JNCO Jeans are actually being produced again, youll be seeing teenagers wearing them again
>>
>>34955944
I've owned my bersa for a year and I don't understand this reliability meme, I've sent around 2000 rounds through it of job and fmj with prolly 85% den and the rest job and literally not ever had a single jam or misfire plus it's spot on accurate up to about 50-60m
>>
>>34962844
I feel like everyone who shits on bersa here has never ownedor shot one... plus i got mine for literally $200 at sportsmans.
>>
What's the word on the NAA Guardian? I kinda want a Seecamp but I can't justify dropping almost a grand on a CC gun I'll probably never use, and the Guardian is always listed as a cheaper alternative. Is it decent or is it just another memegun?
>>
>>34962363
>Just like everyone hated the 80s unitl 3-4 years ago and now its trendy.
That's because kids of the 80s, basically those born in the 70's and actually had an idea of shit going on in the 80s, are now the ones with any kind of clout to do stuff. They're all the 50 something executives that pretty much have the final say in companies, so they get the nostalgia thing and run with it. This is why holywood has started with the 80s shit and the whole synthwave is in full swing.

Did someone say pocket guns?!
>>
>>34963054
With standard pressure .38 Special, yes

With +P, not so much; the more stout .38 Special loads can sting the web of my hand, due to the mound on the grip
>>
>>34958425
Bro, just because it fits in your pocket, doesn't make it a pocket gun. It prints, it bounces around, its heavy and big.

I get it. Yes, big pockets can fit big guns.
If I shove a glock 19 in my work pants (deep pockets) it doesn't magically become a pocket gun.

I have large hands (6'4, 9.5 inch "wingspan" thumb to pinkie) and I don't have a problem with mine. I am not overweight and don't have sausage fingers though.

Also, it might be that your friend has a Bersa without the "beavertail" (I don't know teh technical term; contrast pic related with OP's image) magazines. They really help with grip. Holding the gun in my hand without the magazine in feels awkward and precarious.

Otherwise... OP, I really like mine. Overall very decent fit and finish, especially for a $270 pistol, it works every time and hits what I'm aiming at. Can't complain.
