Good day to you /k/ommandos, I'd like to ask a question to you. I've bought this bullet in Mostar, Bosnia amongst a few other things like cheesy bullet necklaces and engraved shells, supposedly all disarmed. Though this one in particular caught my attention, is it possible that I bought a live bullet?

Looks live to me, the primer isn't punched or anything. Shake it a bit near your ear, do you hear any loose powder sloshing around within the casing? Casings aren't so full that the powder has zero space to move.
If it's dead silent, then they probably pulled the bullet and removed the powder, and maybe oiled the primer to kill it.
>>
>>34951609
W-well I actually hear something shaking inside. It's almost entirely sure that it's a live one then?
>>
>>34951626
If it sounds like a salt shaker inside you likely have a live round

Best way to test it is with a hammer and a nail in the primer tho.

>>34951560
That's a live round nigga
>>
>>34951550
Call me a tard if I'm wrong, but this might be an anti-vehicular armor, tracer round.
>>
>>34951682
That would've been my next question, does anybody know for sure what kind of ammo it might be?
>>
>>34951706
Black normally signifies AP, looking up what purple is for in that area

>It's almost entirely sure that it's a live one then?
Sounds like it. That's how most rifle cartridges sound if you shake them near your ear.
Just don't put it in an oven at 600 degrees or something, or directly strike the primer extremely hard. Ammunition is extremely safe unless you do something REALLY dumb.
>>
Looks like a live round. The headstamp is Yugoslavian/Bosnian.
>>
OP: Love ammo is "safe" as long as it doesn't get into a fire or you hit the primer on the bottom. Just hope it's not too illegal where you are.

>>34951713

Blue tips are usually incendiary. I'd say this is an API round.
>>
>>34951626
i have a few hundred rounds of .50 cal in my closet, it's not a big deal.

Before you attempt to set this thing off and kill yourself anon, do us all a favour and finish that fucking jigsaw.
>>
Well thanks for the help guys, it seems that I indeed have an AP tracer round.
>>
>>34951859
Not just AP, API

You're welcome, that one was fairly fun to find.
>>
>>34951876
Thanks for the correction. It sounds pretty hardcore actually, I hope my brother for whom I bought it will appreciate it.
Is it something extraordinary or are bullets like this not so uncommon?
>>
>>34951970
They're a little rare but it's not like you snagged something extremely valuable. It's worth a couple bucks at most.

This round never had a chance to remove Kebab. FeelsBadMan.
>>
>>34951970
Depends on where you live. An API-T 12.7 round in the US is fairly uncommon since there isn't much russian 12.7 around. In Bosnia where you got it they are probably pretty damn common
