Pic related is from rubbing on cement to get a perfect cut. It was worth it for the perfect top I guess.
Otherwise I just use a mallet and screwdriver/chisel. A sharp chisel and hammer is the fastest way I've found. You can tap that thing around the perimeter pretty quickly.

Update: I cracked open the can by driving a screwdriver in with a hammer, and following a loud hissing noise coming from the can, the smell of vodka and paint thinner has filled my living room.
