No.
It wants to look like a collector's knife but is a CNC abomination made of aluminium and cheap knife steel. The recurve in the blade and air vent holes in the handle for fat hands qualify it for the title of gourmet class mall ninja knife.

I tried to shoplift both of those from a chain outdoors store and got caught and ended up having to pay for em, not totally my aesthetic and wouldn't have spent money on them outside of the circumstance.

I carry an Opinel 7, I find the 8 a little big. It's a great folder for $15, and I don't have to baby it like people and their $250 EDC knives. It's not the best design in the world though, an automatic is just hands down better. I like it because it doesn't scare the normies around me if I use it. Really, most everyone's EDC needs in a knife would be met by like a 1-2 inch keychain knife, but carry whatever the fuck you want.

I've been EDCing a benchmark mini barrage for the last 8 years. I never need more than a 3-4 inch blade and I never need a blade that's a quarter inch thick except for innawoods.

ESEE 5 is a good, decent length but if you're trying to jump up from a 4, you may as well get a 6 because the length difference between a 4 and a 5 is only three quarters of an inch.

>>
>>34960369
Check your local scrapyard.

I know a guy who found a good anvil that way. It wasn't in the best condition, but it was good quality for much cheaper than buying new. And it's a fucking anvil. Some dirt and a bit of wear is par for the course.
>>
Is the maker as important or more important than the type of steel?
Who makes the best of what they have?
>>
>>34953012
you might like the Svord Peasent Mini. I like the wooden scaled one. Though it's overpriced for what it is. The plastic handled one is a good price. it's cheap money for a cheap knife. The wooden one is a little more than it should be.

I've had the same SAK since i was a 6 year old. Get a SAK, it'll do everything you need it to.

Steel is like the least important factor of a knife but people talk about it a lot more.

Heat treatment, blade grind, edge geometry, etc, are all more important.

Find an old american axe at an estate sale for $5. Will outperform all but the most expensive modern axes.

Seriously, most estate or garage sales have no idea about these things so they will be priced the same as a crappy Home Depot special. Especially if they're rusty, the price will be even lower.

As with all things, knowing what exactly it is you want makes it a lot easier to pick the thing that's right for you. Now knowing that requires you to know a lot about the subject, so the best thing might be to set aside a few hundred dollars for books and spend the next half a decade lurking in suitable internet forums.

If that's a bit much then something like

A cheap, basic blade for chopping somewhat soft vegetation or a heavily thrust-focused weapon most likely (various people mean various things with estoc) around the longsword/bastard sword size range and style? This does seem like an apples and oranges thing. If the two seem equivalent in your mind, then it might be best to wait and think things over. Maybe ponder some other options while you're at it.

A tomahawk is a multi-tool. It can be used as a hatchet, obviously, but if you keep it sharp and grip it close to the head, you can use it as a whittling knife. A similar grip will let you use the flat of the blade as a modestly effective hammer, unless the flat is GONE, of course.

The little metal cylinder opposite the blade is, I shit you not, for smoking tobacco. The haft is a hollow tube, you just stick the other end in your mouth.

It depends on what you mean.

Tri-Ad is probably the strongest factory lock, but a lot of people have been cut when disengaging the lock since there's a strong bias to close.

Honestly lock strength is kinda overrated. Past a certain point it's just a dick measuring contest since the forces required to break the lock are way past the point you'll be able to hold onto the knife.

For EDC pretty much all the locks from reputable makers are fine as long as you're not being a retard.

I'm with the second guy, lock strength is pretty much just a pissing contest. I used to work construction and I've never seen so much as a cheap liner lock fail. I was able to cut off a piece of my jeans hanging out at the bottom in no time. Something that a small knife like that isn't even really supposed to do all that well
>>
>>34980224
Most of it is up to personal preference, I prefer full flat as it tends to slice better
>>
>>34980337
You can try fine steel wool and very carefully scrub the rust, I´ve done this a few times when blades have got really rusty. It´s a bit overkill though and all you really need to do is to apply some oil, let it soak for a while and scrub it with rough cloth.

Small rust spots are not really a problem, they usually wear off in use anyway.

Hollow is literally designed to be a better slicer than FFG, and I'm saying that as a fan of FFG.

>>
>>35000051
That looks more like it, but the Fällkniven knives are pretty damn expensive. I wish Morakniv made any folding knives, my Companion is hard to beat for the price. >>

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Opinel-Outdoor-Trekking-Knife-Blue/dp/B003BG6SQ0/
>>
>>35000158
The blade steel on the fallknivens is a lot better though. If this is the only knife you're getting and aren't prone to losing your stuff that would be worth it for me. Another option you might want to consider is the Spyderco Delica. It isn't too intimidating cheaper than the fallkniven and is a great pocket knife overall.
>>
>>35000219
It's okay, the plastic over the wood handles will make it more useable if it gets wet (the wood on the regular models will swell if it gets wet, making the blade hard to open). Also its already on the large size at 7.5 cm. In my experience most non knife people in Europe will already be scared by it's size alone, even though all its other features are pretty inoffensive.
>>
>>34953012
The sanrenmu 9054 is a slipjoint flipper and its a knife for a budget price. I just personally hate the black scales.
>>
>>34998342
Custom leather sheaths can go up to $200-300, though personally I think that's a bit much to pay for a knife sheath unless it's some exotic leather or something.

The cheapest option would be to hit up the manufacturer of your knife because they probably have leather sheaths for a different model that will fit your knife.

If you're set on a custom sheath, I'd hit up Matt "Charlie Mike" Freeman. Guy's a total character, but he does decent work fast and for relatively affordable prices.

I've had two liner locks wear out after years of service. Under pressure the lock will slide over and unlock. Both were gerbers.

Good quality manufacturing, but the steel is complete shit. Expect to be constantly sharpening.

I have a Benchmade North Fork at home with the wood grain G10 handles. Pic isn't mine, but it looks pretty wood-like. Also way more durable then wood.

This nigga knows about the 7.
I prefer the 7 over the 8 or any other model too.
I combo-carry it with my ziptie modded delica and that's really, not normie-friendly because I take it out in reverse grip very fast.

Tomahawks are weapons unlike a hatchet which is a tool. Tomahawk is designed to be light and fast, not designed to cut wood but flesh and bone
>>
>>34967167
why wouldn't you just buy a spyderco or some proper knife ?
>>
>>34978248
Historically tomahawks were used as weapons. I can take the cap of my beer off with my Glock, that doesn't make it a multi-tool

I want to try making a knife or ten. I have drawn out a karambit and have a piece of 1095 to cut it out of.
>>
>>35013917
Make copies of your drawing, cut one out and tape it to cardboard. Cut that out and see how it feels in the hand. If it feels good then cut out another copy and tape that to your steel. Spray paint over the template (i use semi gloss. It helps the lines stick out more) cut that out with a hacksaw or whatever, leave yourself some room to file. File and drill your holes. Next file/grind your bevels. Heat treat and temper then polish. Finally work on your handle shape. Pin and epoxy. When its dry then polish the handle. Sharpen.
