Army has Chaplain Assistsnts. So does the Navy IIRC.

It has the potential to be a somewhat cool job because you act as the chap's bodyguard in combat zones. You also aid in setting up religious rites if that's something that interests you.

For extra valor stealing, tell everyone you joined to become a combat engineer. Because that's the only way people end up becoming 1161s anyways. The Marine Corps MOS system is hilarious like that.

The Navy has ratings for most of the construction trades. Unfortunately they count for little beyond technical school credits in the civilian world. If you want to become a union journeyman they don't even count towards apprentice hours in most cases (though they'll almost certainly land you an apprenticeship)

Almost anything stateside is made by civilian construction companies with or without management from the Army Corps of Engineers or Air Force / Navy engineering departments. >Backstory

I actually had a friend from college sign up for the army for this exact job.
His reasoning was to pay back for college, for a resume, to say he served and all that shit..
Well he got it...

I should say, his degree was in theology.
So he had years of study in multiple disciplines and their methodologies including anthropology, sociology, psychology, philosophy, and history of religion.
Yet, if anyone asked him.. he was a pagan satanist with druidic celtic pagan roots

His storys that he has told me

> Meeting the chap
> Pissing off indians
> Pissing off iraqis
> Pissing off afganis
> The humveee incident
> The time he had to prove his "Belief" wasnt bullshit or get NJP'd
> ha-ba-da-daba da-ba-du-daba-da
> Hail Satin ( yes, Satin)
> The blood letting
> Midwinter
> Vernal Equinox
> Beltane.
> The conversion to pagan vs Christianity ratio
> Reasons why he had 3 different chaplains
> Midsummers feast
> Autumnal equinox
> The fine line between bullshit religion and military court-martial- Narriated by a lawyer
> Samhain.

If anyone wants, ill share.. provided i dont get too engross in playing foxhole and getting these videos.

>visit a bunch of different locations we have soldiers at
>eat at a decent diner while everyone else is eating MRE's for lunch
>hitch rides with the S4 for "vehicle fueling"

pretty comfy job desu, only gets hard/dangerous if we're deployed inna combat environment. Depends on your chaplain, but if you're with a catholic ie the rarer denominations you'll be going to the farther OPs and FOBs with the chaplain.

>"njp"

Never heard them called NJP's in the army, only in the Marines. Closest thing we have is Article 15's. Also, chaplains assistants aren't religious, not even required to be. Chaplains are required to be endorsed by an official religious organization, chaplains assistants fill purely secular roles.

I was in a ADA Battalion out of Germany. We were doing a rotation in Kuwait in late 2002 early 2003. Then we find out we're going to invade Iraq. We didn't have most of our gear and they made us leave the ADA stuff behind in Kuwait. so we ended up pulling convoy security in our unarmored trucks and the few crew served weapons we brought. No PAGST vests just LBVs. It was a complete shit show until we finally got to go home in August 2003.

ADA's mission isn't focused at all on the enemy's aviation. ADA is about TBM / IRBM / ARM defense. The enemy isn't going to try to take us on air to air, they will immediately try to fire every missile they've can at airfields, radar sites and HQs to prevent anything from getting in the air in the first place. 6 hours? Try 16 minutes where the skies literally burn as PAT sites and BMOAs face off against each other. Which will determine the course of whatever major conflict that is erupting.

Yeah, you're making banned precursers from their literal source materials, instead of buying it from a pharmabusiness like they do elsewhere, but really the only people who get bad synthetic acid are festival punks and dubsteppers. I hear that happened to artillery in general. One of my drill sergeants in in-processing at Benning was field artillery and told us his deployments were spent as ad hoc infantry pulling guard on convoys because they had no need for howitzers. According to him, it ended up with them suffering disproportionate casualties because they weren't doing the job there were trained for.

It was mostly a joke. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to sign up for a job that you train for because there might one day be a very real need for it, then never actually do that job.

Yeah, but that's stuff that happens at battalion in an office. A 92A is warehouse operations that should frankly be handled by civilians. No matter how much one fucks up (they fuck up all the time) they can't do much damage because there's zero expectations.

I know it's a joke thread but civilians don't know what MOS even means. Maybe the ones here, but only because it's /k/.

"Your security clearance isn't high enough to know. All I can say is I was dishonorably discharged because we did our job too well, and the government decided they didn't want the job done at all. That's why I don't have a mil ID anymore."

56m? That seems like a huge joke to me. Looks like an easy way to do your twenty years and get a nice big government check. What could you do when you get out? Security contracting? Doesn't seem like that transfers to anything. Your essentially a bodyguard so dss maybe? But they are gonna look at your army mos and start laughing when you sign up.

If there's anything Terminal Lance and spurdo memes taught me, as an IDF vet, it's that the ranks might be different, the rules might be different, the work might be different, but the stupid stuff is always the same.

>Is band member an option?
yes
>Who does that?
musicians who have the desire to serve their country a/o want that sweet veteran preferential hiring when they transition back to civilian status
>Do you already need musical ability to do it?
yes, you'll need to be a good player plus do all the other bullshit regular GI's do
>>
>>34963943
it is cheaper and simpler that way.

unless you want to go back vietnam or earlier. when your garrison uniform was a khaki shirt and pants. that required ironing and having to reassemble all the pin on shit every time you washed it.

a couple of soldiers in my last unit got fed up with being in the army. so they practiced the instrument they played in high school band for a few months and auditioned into being army band.

They do get combat training, but it's mostly "pop smoke, shoot in the general direction, and gtfo."

The Army has construction engineers that handle that type of thing. Welding, dirt moving, carpentry (God fucking help you) base improvement, etc. It's one of those jobs that people who wash out of other jobs end up in. We had 3 females who washed out of Combat Medic school, it was pretty fucking hilarious how much they wanted to kill themselves.
>>
>>34965309
I think the worst part of getting an MOS like that is the fact that you'll probably be doing a lot of work with civilian contractors who are doing literally the exact same job for way, way more money and less bullshit.
