People will buy anything with the right marketing.
>>
>>34943553
The number of people that would buy them isn't enough to justify the cost of the equipment needed to produce them. Think about how much the FG-42 repros were sold for, and those were of a firearm that appeals to the fairly wide WWII collectors market. We won't get a US made VSS for the same reason we won't get a US made SVD or AN-94. They're just not profitable enough. Maybe someone will do it eventually though, who knows.

I'm talking about the outer diameter of the suppressor. For .223 Remington.
>>
>>34947364
for what purpose? SBR, integrated suppressor, rifle length barrel? If you had a sub 1" OD silencer it would need to be like a foot and a half long to be of any use on an sbr. much of that dia is gonna be taken up by material, and you need room for gas expansion
you should to brush up on some basic thermodynamic principles and material physics
>>
>>34947676
My concern, as far as OD goes, is whether it will fit under the handguard of an AR-15 or similar weapon system.

Second, as far as internal volume is concerned, with the current monocore design, if machined out of 7075-T6 with a .250" bore, it goes from .4102 lbs to .2544 lbs by machining the volume the gas uses for expansion. I'm removing ~38% of the mass as it currently stands and I might increase it further along development.

Slapped this together from memory and a few glances at google images.

I'll apply accurate dimensions to it when I get around to it, plan on printing it then making a mold to cast out of whichever resin/epoxy is closest to the original look.

Speaking of, anyone have any recommendations on a resin that's both sturdy enough for a pump action foregrip and looks like the original ks23 furniture?

>>
>>34957682
As long as the cross section area is large enough to compensate for a weaker material, it'll still function.
>>
>>34958087
function isn't the issue, I'm sure any all-aluminum silencer would work for a little while longevity/degradation is the main concern.
Sure if you're in a country where suppressors aren't restricted, and buying a replacement for hunting or whatever for less than 100 caps when the first wears out wouldn't be a big deal, but in the US, you want to make sure it lasts
>>
>>34958180
Unless the suppressor is made of steel or titanium and the stress amplitude is below the fatigue limit for the cross-section used, the suppressor is going to fail eventually regardless. If it's made of steel, that's going to weigh a fuckton more and if it's made of titanium it's going to cost you an arm and both legs.
>>
>>34958304
idk man, some of the cheaper 5.56 cans on silencershop even have inconel baffles. the only thing I would use aluminum in would be for rimfire.
I think the lack of existing muzzle brakes made out of 7075 speaks to the validity of its use in that capacity
>>
>>34953916
Unless the simulation software was built with supersonic flows in mind I wouldn't bother using it for simulating internal ballistics.
>>
>>34958304
Personally, I wonder about a different approach: silencer so crap it goes out after a single magazine, but costs pennies - you treat it as a consumable, like ammo, not like an accessory.

In actual, real-life scenarios, if the gun with silencer didn't get the work done on one magazine, you really don't need the silencer anymore.

>>
>>34960660
>firing pin tip too wide
Why would that even matter?
>>
>>34960734
The wider the area of the strike, the shallower the blow, all else being equal. A heavyweight boxer can hit with approximately the same force as your typical handgun round, but because a fist has a much larger surface area, it doesn't penetrate.
>>
>>34960772
But if you design it to be that wide it could be more reliable.
>>
>>34960763
Where the hell did he say he was making it specifically for 3D printing? If you're going to give him shit for printing a non-firing prototype, then I'm going to be the bearer of bad news but don't purchase any product made in the past decade because it was probably prototyped the same way.
>>
>>34960780
You would need a stronger hammer/striker spring to account for the larger surface area, otherwise you'll end up with light strikes.

What modifications would you to it to improve it?
I'd probably add some mounting points for sights.
Would it be possible to make it semi auto?
>>
>>34960763
Don't have access to a 3D printer. Don't actually want to, either. I would prefer to use the schematics as a guide for modifying an existing .22 break action revolver.

BUT

If I don't have a way to modify any existing revolver then i will need to make a mold and get .22 barrel inserts for it. Maybe need to find a 3D printer for certain parts.
>>
>>34960924
Might be locked away in some archive in the UK.
It's a lever-delayed blowback, which is pretty cool. Modifying the trigger group to be solely closed-bolt semi-auto is very doable. I think switching the magazine well to use DPMS mags would be a good idea, personally, because of the aftermarket (Dem PMags, brah)

I've only ever heard people use "plans" for architectural drawings, personally. I pity the people who work on those, though, since they still end up using AutoCAD or similar software. Draftsight a shit.

>>34961138
Honestly, QA and QC is where manufacturing usually falls apart. Knowing how to test, document and take into account deviation is beyond important.

>its probably the same for combloc trash; no one wants a repro, they want a COMMIE GUN that was used to REMOVE [group]
I'll take a repro if it's good.

There's no indication he said half the shit you attributed to him. You're just being a petulant turd.

Cool.

I can't find any on the usual sites I go to.

I'm guessing feelings of inadequacy from being told he was useless/incapable at everything his whole life.

>its on russias no export list, it used to be 'state secret' sorta status, so le/mil only but that got lifted maybe?
The VSS is, but a VSS-lookalike isn't. Molot was planning on civilian version (with decorative suppressor as those sort of illegal here), they even shown a prototype but I'm haven't heard about it for quite some time. They're now busy with their new .336-chambered guns and some state contracts so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I've been living under a rock. What's the word?

Interesting. So it's a shotgun round for legal reasons... I wonder if our bruvs in the UK could get that on a shotgun certificate...

HAAS vm3

Nice. HAAS makes good stuff for the price.

Not really.

Are these legit?

I'd rather a HAAS than the SMTCL's I've used.
>>
>>34963592
I haven't looked at the model, but unless they have the actual drawings with all tolerance specifications and the like, you won't be able to manufacture based off it, at least not for anything more than a one-off with lots of hand-fitting.

Any suggestions on supersonic flow simulation software?

Not sure about a Beretta mag, but i do plan on making one to fit in my 10/22

Also, if you want to make tonnes of dosh, specifically say 10/22 RIFLE on any marketing stuff and never mention the Charger pistol and you'll be able to sell it without fuckery in Canada.

That, or manufacture a version for the Dlask "TUF-22" rifle.

It'll even allow for a tighter lock-up.

No clue about whether what they are is sufficient to make a working gun, but they contain "what says on the box". No funny business.
>>
>>34964137
Well, you can't get too perfect. If you manufacture to some extremely high tolerances, you'll get it working, although this will be far more work because you'll be making very precise parts that don't need to be. There may be some parts with negative tolerances (gaps between elements encoded in tolerance) but you should be able to spot them after first attempt to assemble the gun and correct them by "eyeballing" how that should be.

Both these guns are AK47 derivatives (if distant). So the loose tolerances are pretty inherent to the design.
