Plenty of range time. Never needed to use it to defend myself or loved ones and I hope it stays that way.

Yes, by using it you are escalating an encounter to lethal force without actually having lethal force. In my country (and most others) if you brandish a paintball gun you fall under the same laws for firearms so enjoy your civil lawsuits. Get a gun or don't bother.
