Honestly I'v only ever fired one bullpup and it was the L85a2, but from what I get the gist of the AUG really was the only "Good" bullpup in terms of what Bullpup designs were supposed to achieve.

How much of this argument is based on memes? I am buying a bullpup in 10 days and am stuck between the AUG and the x95. It's for my father, who is going to be using it primarily for home defense. Maybe used to kill hogs. Probably red dot sight. Dad will probably use it with a laser. I've been told that unless you are shooting competitively, they perform near equally and after that it's which ever you prefer ergonomically.

It's honestly a really fucking neat rifle, man. Really soft shooting and the recoil is so deliciously soft. A bit of muzzle climb.

Reasoning for 3.0 over 1.5 is that a good portion of the cost goes into that optic and a 1.5 non-variable just sounds silly to me. Even 3.0 is low, in my opinion. Stick an RMR or something or something on top of the 3.0 and you're solid.

Yea, I'm definitely getting the AUG. The only trouble is deciding between an extended rail model and one with a scope. I wanted to put an EOTech on it, but it seems like the scoped models are the better value. I know I could buy the extended rail for not much money, but Steyr warns it may require fitting of the stock which I don't really want to do.

Regardless, it seems like the green ones are scarce right now, so I may have some time to decide.

I'm not exactly sure what fitting of the stock would amount to, but as much as I like the idea of having a bit more space to put whatever I want with it, I'd just end up putting a magnified optic on it anyway. And I just wanted the AUG aesthetic, even though it's nowhere near an A1/A2.

NZ Armyfag here, theyre not bad, only complaint I have is the spongey trigger and that it gets absolutely caked full of shit every time you use it, and of course the shitty 1.5 optics (not an issue with the gun). The new lmts are way fucking better, the steyrs good but at the end of the day its still a bullpup.

Also should mention, I never really had much experience with it outside of basic.

The factory scope on an AUG A3/M1 is held on by 3 hex screws that you can easily remove, and Styer sells the short rail section on their website, so you can interchange the two. If you go that route make sure you order the little roll pin that fits in there too, since the short rail section will wobble without the pin in place.
