At least that has a "block" aesthetic that can be appealing to some, simplicity can be A E S T H E T I C.

Compared to>>34927720
which looks like Hephaestus took a shit into a mold.
>>
I Iike it. It's got a very triangular future look while not going as sci-fi as a px4. But then again, I like how the px4 looks so don't take my word for it.

Shit the fuck down kid, the Ruger American is semi-cool looking and you know it.

I like Ruger, and it's probably a solid gun, but polymer striker-fired pistols are just really boring to me.

It's like they tried too hard to make it look cool, but not aesthetic. Two very different things.
I actually like the way the SR series looks, same with LCP. But the Murican and the LCP II are butt ugly.

Bill is dead man, and has been for a while now. He pushed legislation that, at the time, was probably the least-worst option.

In an era where the firearm industry was driving off a cliff, he pulled the steering wheel towards a tree. Bad, but at least there are survivors.
>>
>>34930044
>"compromising" with anti-gun morons
>giving them any victories whatsoever
He was a sell out and a cuck. Rest in piss, Bill
>>
>>34930050
What would you have done in an era where gun control had broad popular support in Congress?

I hear a lot of people who bitch about Bill, but very few who propose a realistic alternative to what he was pushing at the time.

And again, Ruger is a drastically different company now.
>>
>>34930066
Basically he was afraid they would ban his money maker, the Mini 14, so he threw "high capacity" magazines under the bus to save his rifle. Bill Ruger totally sold us out. He testified before Congress in favor of the ban and lent his name to the effort to enact that legislation. Schumer et al needed a high profile person in the industry to be a poster boy for the AWB and Bill was their punk. In return, Ruger was promised that his guns would be specifically exempted from the ban.
Even for several years after the ban was over Ruger refused to sell magazines over 10 rounds.
This is from his TV interview with Tom Brokaw: "No honest man needs more than 10 rounds in any gun". "I never meant for simple civilians to have my 20 or 30 round magazines or my folding stock." "I see nothing wrong with waiting periods."
So yeah, get fucked.
>>
>>34930066
Assisting in or preaching any form of anti 2A legislation is unconstitutional, un-American and for all intents and purposes, completley ineffective.
For such an esteemed figure in the American gun industry to in ANY way assist in authoritarianism by restricting gun rights is shameful and treacherous.
>>

Never compromise with Democrats. Never.

I knew someone was going to bring up the HI Point at some point. Saw a fellow of the Negro persuasion purchasing one the other day when I went to my local FFL to pick up more ammo. He got denied because he had a felony, then he proceeded to threaten the owner of the establishment. The whole thing was funny as hell to watch. The final decision was he would rather leave without the cops coming with the coroners to collect his body.
>>
>>34930324
On two separate occasions I seriously considered buying a hi-point.

I tried to rationalize it:
>i've already got a ton of parabellums
>it'd be nice to have another truck gun
>it's on sale!

I just couldn't do it.
>>
>>34930432
I was highly considering it as my first handgun. I was poor back then but I ended up with an SD9VE, eventually a G19, FN9C, and a Shield 9mm. I hear they are somewhat fun to shoot but once you're done you'd want to just toss it in a crematory to get rid of the evidence you ever had fun with one.
>>
>>34930015
Yeah, those are pretty awful to look at. I grabbed one for cheap, but still don't know why I haven't gotten rid of it yet. It's hideous and I never shoot it.

A fun store salesman once confirmed that the SD9ValueEdition sells easily when compared to the C9. He said people handle the hi-point for a bit, then go right to the Smithy.

Change the grips, and pay a smith to install a cheap mounting rail via two screws on the bottom. As soon as you have a laser or square flashling on it, the entire aesthetic changes.

image is for ants, but you can see the improvement from better grips alone.
>>
Actually much like the Beretta APX, the American looks A LOT better in person. They're like the opposite of Instagram chics
>>
>>34927720

I still don't quite understand why they made this. Is it that different from the SR9?

They made it based off the MHS specifications, but they didn't actually submit it for consideration.

probably, I never actually handled a Hi Point before settling on the sd9ve. I watched a bunch of youtube videos and asked the salesman what a good beginner gun was and he told me the sd9ve was in my price range and I would feel less recoil from a full size gun I know the sd9ve is considered a gangster's throwaway gun but I had enough fun with mine. I'm happy with it for my introductory handgun. It basically has all you need to get started, A simple Glock-style takedown, front and rear slide serrations, a witness hole and it's easy to clean. I still own it and take it out shooting every once in a while.

It's the perfect slavophile gun: it's weird and no one wants it so I can buy it for crazy cheap.

why buy a gun for under $300 if you can't be that weird special snowflake who shoots antiquated guns from eastern europe and has a drinking problem?
>>
>>34938968
I've been drinking but Christ I literally thought that was a photoshop of a hi-point and a walther who the fuck thought that was a good idea

Funny thing is I actually owned one of these once upon a time and I hate to admit it but it had one of the greatest triggers I've ever shot.
>>
>>34935308
That looks pretty cool
>>
>>34939007
There's this horrible relationship between Walther when it comes to trigger quality and looks

The PPK has a double action trigger pull that is just... man there's a lot of it and it reminds you that the PP design is old as fuuuuck.

My dad's P99 is kinda utilitarian looking (no real upsides/downside to how it looks it just looks like a gun) and it has a really good striker-fire trigger feel to me, especially when using it in double-action mode.

I mean that PPX must have the most buttery smooth trigger and the grip looks dumb but I bet the ergonomics are fantastic.

saging myself because drunkposting nothing but text posts in rapid succession is rude

I always thought that the trigger was one of the uglier things about it, but it actually feels pretty nice. I don't know if I'll ever get used to the grip safety though. It's not horrible, it's just a little awkward.
