Close enough to nonfiction if writing was good a specific historical audience would definitely enjoy. Try not to make it so preachy though. Not that I support evil communism but don't make it a propaganda novella.

Already written. It's really less about the communism/capitalism struggle and more about the people that fought it, especially in backwater countries.

That's what I was hoping, focusing on the characters and their goals and their struggle to overcome the foe. Not like the writer thinks communism is bad and wants to tell you about the very other page, it would detract from the story itself.

Yep the novel heavily explores why somebody would dedicate their lives to fighting communism. Some are in it for the money, but others are Czechs, Poles, Finns, etc who were fucked in various ways by the Russians after WWII. While Communism does not necessarily equal Soviet Union, in most peoples minds they were inseparable during the era I'm writing about.
