Looking for any suggestions, links, etc for night vision goggles. My budget is around 1k.
>budget is 1k
Just get a toilet paper tube and put some translucent green wrapping paper over it.

This works, can confirm

Great input . Thank you for your contribution.

Great, now save 5 times that and you can get some shitty used stuff.
Better yet just buy a "10,000" lumen flashlight with your grand.

Thank you. Great plan

buy any old gen 1 set. then spend most of your money on an IR floodlight or spotlight.
99.99% of the time you'll be the only person using night vision in your area so why waste money on good gen 3 set when you can get better practical results with good IR illumination.

I mean, you're aware the only stuff worth buying is 3x your budget at least, right?

Hate to say, but I've never had the money to bother looking into night vision like that, I just have an old Night Owl Monocular.
I'd suggest checking ebay to get an idea of what is available, then youtube for reviews.

I wonder what the legality of a flare launching mortar is...

Not everything a person buys has to be top of the line. Theres plenty of functional shit thatll do the job that doesnt cost 3k or more. All Im asking is if anyone has used something that theypurchased on ebay used for about 1k that worked out pretty well. I am fully aware I could spend thousands of dollars for the perfect nvg's, but it aint what Im looking for.

Gently swaying back and forth as it descends into the darkness... I like it

This.
Unless the navy seals storm your property at night regularly, having good IR floodlights and shitty vatnik IR tubes can work good enough.

I bet calling in a fire support from the homestead for illumination flares while hog hunting would be pretty valuable.

Cat adoptions are actually free this weekend in my county. Just train a smaller cat to ride on your shoulder and meow quietly when it sees something.

you should also have IR spotlights outside anyway so your CCTV can work better at night.
>INB4 people think guns are better at protecting a home than CCTV
criminals will avoid homes with cctv when there are better choices available. They will always try to go for the easiest target - which will be an unoccupied house - often they will ring a doorbell to check if anyone is in.
Having internal and external cameras offers the best prevention of a break in and best chances of getting your shit back and sending the guy to prison.

>t. Retards who dont realize gen 2 costs a little over 1k and is quite useable
"M-muh 3k"
"Muh top of the line"
You guys are like the types who say if you dont have atleast $1k put into your gun, youll die in a shootout

CCTV doesn't protect jack shit you retard, it may help you catch the burglar afterward though.
Motion alarms help you protect your stuff, and the gun is an important safety tool.
Dead of night you hear "BEEEP BEEEP BEEEP" and you know what's up.

Yeah, another false positive.

Putting them indoor places is the best idea, every now and then a mouse sets one off but it's fairly rare.

Buy gen 1 mono tube and an illuminator
in there try to get a helmet
It's a shame no one in this thread even attempted to give an actual example or lead on where to look or what to look for. I just googled "night vision goggles gen 2" and got a shit-ton of links. Start looking up reviews, if you bought something for ~$700 and it works, then great. If you expected it to be anywhere as good as something else for $5k then it's your own fault. I just got a laser/IR laser combo recently so im in the same boat as OP
