I've been seeing Taurus PT709 pistols online for $169.99 for awhile now and have even found them in brick-mortar and big box stores for $199. Does anyone have any personal experience with them?
I know that there are a lot of Taurus automatic pistols that have very hit and miss quality control but I've only seen good things about the TCP 380 pistol and the 709 seems like a big brother to that one.

They're good. Since it has a manual safety I use mine for pocket carry, keep it in the glovebox until I need it.

A friend of mine has a PT709 and it constantly refuses to go into battery, FTF and stovepipes. The lips have been polished on the mags and feed ramps and the 709 is still awful. Get yourself a cheap EAA for around 220. You won't regret it.
As for the TCP I couldn't say as I haven't fired one yet.

Millenium is the big bro to the 709.
i owned both the Millenium and 709. The difference in width is pretty negligible. I never had issues with it even with Tula, but it isnt super accurate. The 709 is pretty snappy recoil-wise. It'd make a decent pocket-carry.
If you have only seen good things about the Taurus TCP you are not looking in the right places.
A Kel-Tec PF9 is a better choice in that price range and type of weapon.

We used to sell a lot of these when I used to work in a gun store. I can only remember one that ever came back with a problem. The trigger won't reset. We helped the customer ship the pistol back and he got a new 709, with three free mags for his trouble. I guess it worked since he never complained about it again.
