I bought a crappy teardrop 80's "compound" bow off craigslist for $40. came with a hard case and like 25 aluminium arrows. i dont even try to use the sights anymore, and ive become a pretty good shot. me and a friend go to a local park maybe once a month. its got a 100 yard range thats free to use. we buy some water melons and pumpkins and go to town on them.

If you invest the time to git gud then yes it is fun. Spent 8 years of my childhood shooting indoor comp. best bow I owned was a Hoyt Meridian and I used Easton "broomsticks" and a Swarvoski x2 lens fiber sight.

Don't forget for an arrow shooting 20-30m is like shooting 100m rifle.
You can come talk shit to me when you git gud and literally drive tacks and pop off erasers with 9/10 shots on a consistent basis.

Archery is fun relaxing and requires immense concentration to get actually good. People who shoot compound at the park by me are regular guys and gun owners getting ready for hunting season for the most part most of the people shooting recurve are either Asian, fat n bald or dress like Indiana Jones. I don't know why but they love the hats.

all high end skill sports are like that though.

look at the people that do olympic type shooting or even 3 gun or clays.

basic competence and average equipment can get you to 90% with some practice. the last 10% is when you start getting into all the autism. changing weight placements and amounts by milimeters and grams to get the weapon to point just so. funny headgear to help you see just so.
