What's /k/'s stance on the Galil? Is it a gun worth buying?

At it's price point it really isn't worth it unless you build it yourself, original ones go for SCAR prices at which point just get one of those, the new galil Ace is nice but much like the x95 tavor he Jews seem to have forgotten how to build a ride that can hit the broad side of a barn and are still demanding top shells. The last option is the golani if you can find one they are under a grand but will likely have to have at least a little tinkering done to make em run right but that is just how it goes with century of course the reciever and parts kit will probably run about the same as a golani and be more readily available
It's a good collector's piece.

It's sexy, both regular and in Upotte form, but is utterly pointless in this day and age.
It has no advantages over an a or are other than the bottle opener.

They're sexy and well built, but for the price tag you can get something better.

Should be noted it's a colossal pain in the ass to build one. Like, hope you have access to a mill and a press sort of pain.

For legit original IMI built Pre-Ban Galil's, be prepared to pay out the ass for one since they are considered to be collector's items now.
They are very nice guns that are built very well, but at that price point you can get something much better like a SCAR.
You can build one yourself, but they are a major pain in the ass to build, it's not like your standard AR or AK. You also have to find the right reciever
since there are many Galil receivers floating around out there that are out of spec or not properly heat-treated. You could send a proper Galil receiver and parts kit
out to a professional builder like Jeff Miller to do the work, but it won't be cheap.
Century Arms makes Golani Sporters which are cheap Galil clones that you can find for under $1000, however the quality is very spotty and
not all of them are head-spaced correctly, and fixing head-spacing isn't easy, especially on a Galil.

Bought a Century one today. Love it, my new favorite gun. So handy and controllable and has been reliable so far.
