I live in USA - Georgia, and I was curious if I could ever get my gun license even though I used to take Zoloft(Depression medication). I was never locked up for my depression BUT a Doctor did try to send me to a institute which I did go and got screened but they told me I me I was safe and did not need to go.

Since it was decided at the time that you were not a threat to yourself or others and therefore not adjudicated mentally defective or involuntarily committed, you should be fine. It can vary by state, but Georgia is generally freedom-loving. You should be ok.

You're fine dude. The "adjudicated as a mental defective" thing only applies if you get judicially committed or ordered by a judge to receive psych treatment.
