Well OP my opinion would be that if you really plan to keep that rifle till you die and you really want to use that particular rifle to hunt, then go for it as long as the mounting job is well done there shouldnt be any problem just know that doing so will drop your rifle's value.

No it fucking wont. The only value an M48 has is as a shooter or a barreled action for a gunsmithing project. A well-done sporter is worth a lot more than a stock M48.

Personally, I kinda like "bubba'd" guns. I see them as having been given a new lease on life: a purpose beyond that of taking human life. A reprieve from war and the anguish that goes with it.

But that's just my opinion.

No, it isn't. It's worth 200 max. Milsurp is a collectors only market. If you want a hunting rifle, then you should buy one. It will be cheaper and perform better.
