/v/isitor here. I just read this, and while I have no trouble imagining the infantry, tank and air battles based on Arma, DCS and countless movies, I'm having a hard time picturing the naval warfare, specifically subs. Can you recommend some visual aids that show what a nuclear sub looks like inside, the whole process of detecting and tracking enemy ships on passive sonar, sonobuoys, targeting and guiding torpedoes, while avoiding detection yourself? Are there any good documentaries or acceptably realistic movies or vidya?
I know there's Dangerous Waters but it looks like it takes 100 hours just to get a basic grip on the controls.

try Cold Waters if you want a poor mans Dangerous Waters
But seriously, get into DW with the RA mod it's sick as fuck.
Otherwise ASW is jokingly referred to as "Awful slow warfare". The weapons are slow, take 10+minutes to hit targets at times, detection and classification also takes a long ass time, the boats move at 5 knots or less. It makes for great books with lots of tension but movies and games don't ever accurately portray it because errybody got ADHD in the last 15 years.

Go watch The Hunt for Red October. It has some nice sub shots. Also Sean fucking Connery in his prime.

between torpedos and counter torpedos and subs calling in air strikes to drop more torpedos I don't know how a sub can even kill another sub, idealy you'd think they'd load a fuck ton of anti torpedos
