Just how chaotic would a modern-day conventional war between well funded 1st world militaries be?
>>
Extremely precise and boring

No one would be able to move due to drones/aircraft, if one nation did get an edge in air superiority then then the war would be over extremely quickly
>>
>>34903538
It would look like chess with engagement ranges.

It would be a massive bloodbath followed by a truce after 3 days.

Wans't the Falklands War basically this? Britain and Argentina had much of the same equipment.
>>
>conventional
So we're assuming no nukes or chemical-biological weapons? What about cyber? What about space?
>>
>>34903910
No nukes or chemical, but yea space and cyber

what the fuck are odd dubs lmao

Like these. Check em.

>cyber
what does this even mean
>>
>>34905235
Internet/Computers silly
>>
>>34905444
i know but "cyber warfare" makes no sense. how do you tell cyber warfare from people just bringing down computers for fun?
>>
>>34903538

As long as both parties are adhering to international law, it won't be so bad. Expect espionage on a massive scale to exploit every tiny little weakness in enemy forces. Expect both sides to be using nano-scale drones to bug every building suspected to be of importance.

24/7 intrusion attempts

you cant. you think your centrifuges are refining uranium when they're spinning themselves apart.

have you ever opened ssh to the internet?

Military grade jamming and systems interference has come a long way anon.
Like, a LONG way. Modern jamming systems don't blind a radar with simple noise, they make it see realistic false contacts and fuck with tracking systems. Integrated, coordinated EW systems will make up entire fake combat environments, then disseminate this across all enemy sensors in a region so all the enemy observations match.
Not to mention all the comms jamming, missile jacking, laser blinding, constant intrusion into C4 systems. Shit's crazy man. Real crazy.
>>
>>34905557
doesn't that just come under ordinary air warfare? what's the difference between cyber warfare and electronic warfare?

does it become cyber warfare the moment you attempt to intrude into a C2 system? in that case, how does "cyber warfare" in that context transfer to "cyber warfare" in other contexts? is jamming a cell network electronic warfare, or is it cyber warfare? what about the POTS? does broadcasting specific TV shows for propaganda purposes come under PSYOPs or cyber warfare?

ill open your sshithole

In the humble opinion of one anon:
It would be a sitzkrieg, most likely. Conducting any ground movements without sufficient AA cover would be suicidal, even for quite small intrusions due to advances in sensors and the prevalence of drones.
So, probably a sitzkrieg artillery duel with lots of stuff going on in the air. Of course, every general fights the last war and there would be a few bloody failed offensives before things decay (most militaries have quite a cult of the offensive going on in their conventional doctrine, and nobody seems to question it).
Think lots of heavily dispersed units spread out over a gigantic, long, deep "front" with lots of sporadic skirmishes as local units jockey for initiative. All the while a massive air campaign is ongoing, but assuming technological parity its at an impasse.
Quite fluid and dynamic, but more in the manner of sludge than a raging river.

Jamming is not the same thing as faking orders, faking friendly and enemy positions and such. Traditionally "Jamming" just refers to blinding radars with lots of useless noise. EW/Cyber warfare are quite blurred lines but combined cyber and EW ops can get real complex and real spooky real quick.

Also stuff like using enemy IFF systems, breaking into those fancy "battle management" systems in every tank, jet and truck to find the location of other enemy forces. Hacking drones, breaking IFF signals.
On a more strategic level also. Breaking into munitions factory systems to break the robots on the production lines (the Israelis famously did this to the Iranian nuclear program >>34905525).
And no, airgaps aren't going to really change anything.

Should start to give you ideas about what is possible. Also bear in mind this is the stuff that benefits the most from being kept secret, and is easiest to keep secret. So only a pathetic fraction of the full capabilities will be public knowledge.
