Also in instances where Spartans show emotions such as Maria-062 or John-117 in the new 343 shit, I think storing them as tools would be seen as unethical, especially after kidnapping 4 year old children to begin with.

It's also possible Maria-062 lost her entire Team on Reach, as Halsey listed an unknown Spartan as critically wounded and unable to participate in the battle, recovering afterwards.
A Spartan without it's team shouldn't be required for service.

There's also the possibility her augmentation process didn't go correctly, but that's -unlikely- as she's controlling the suit just fine.

While I would be agreeing with you if this was any other setting's space marines, the spartan program was highly experimental and was developed almost completely in secret with limited resources when it began. They didn't know what would work, they just threw the most scientific shit at the wall and made scientific notes on what sticked. The spartan program also started shortly before the covenant made first contact. I can't reasonably agree that first or second generation spartans are waifubait girl power bullshit. Anything after I agree with, but halo is 2-D, not 3-D where women are somewhere on the scale between complete dogshit and an actual trained dog in terms of combat potential.

When you get down to it S-III was probably the worst program. It picked up hundreds of rejected S-II candidates, most of whom were war orphans by that point, gave them crappy armor and augment procedures that were far more experimental and risky, and deployed them en masse for suicide missions with loss rates as high as 100%.

That suit could've shit all over a Spartan Team with a basic Marine piloting it. The only downside is that the Marine inside and the suit usually are both beyond repair after usage.

Where I disagree with both of you is that I don't really respect the lore in that way. Think of how RLM talks about Star Wars. The series doesn't exist in a vacuum--pun intended. i only follow the lore predominately. i've played dawn of war 1 and it's expansions back in the day, but it was pretty lackluster. i'm too broke for the table top. even still i wouldn't play based on all the rules you gotta know.

to start in the lore, pick up on the emperor and the imperium of man to start with. that'll lead into the primarchs and their legions. from there it'll branch out into the other races, the coming of chaos, the different foundings of space marines, and the impending doom of the entire 40k universe.

there's quite a few 40k enthusiasts on youtube. i use vaults of terra for understanding different aspects for lore. emperor text to speech for shits and giggles after you get a gist for lore. richard boylan is doing an amazing 40k miniseries about the campaign of helsreach:

Halo 4 and 5 were at least solid on the gameplay, and like it or not 5 does take an interesting turn on the lore and the relationship between John and Cortana. And sets up for a huge conflict against AI dominance of the galaxy.

IIRC Chef was basically raised to be autistic so he'd be a more clear headed leader who wouldn't be emotionally affected by the deaths of team mates so he'd could make decisions clear headed.

In the books though they actually show him change and become almost pitiable over time, in First Strike the entire plot happens because he can't emotionally accept that all the other spartans, his family, are dead and leads a very foolish mission back to Reach to look for them, when he encounters some insurrectionists there's a stand off and he questions whether he could actually kill a human again and he destroys research on Johnson's ability to resist flood infection because if it gets turned in Chef knows he'll be dissected in an ONI lab on the off chance they'll find a cure.

90% of everything to do with Halo is pretty shit, but First Strike is a genuinely good science fiction story

Unrelated but reminds me of the only memorable scene in Fall of Reach when they showed some normy wear the Mjolner armour and he thinks about moving his arm and the suit reacts so fast it breaks his arm and that causes a whole bunch of involuntary muscle spasms which the suit interprets as movement commands and the movement breaks every bone in his body as he spams himself to death.

I miss Season 13. Miles really got into stride there. Then they do that shitty anthology season, making us wait to see the epic escape from Hargrove for another year.

Finally, after 18 months of waiting we get Season 15, and what do they do? Blow off their entire escape in a few sentences. And then go on to do one painful reference after another. The reporters are unlikable, the Blues and Reds are retarded, and the Unicorn dude turned out to be a red herring that disappeared midway through the season. Then they nerf Carolina and Wash, and conveniently get Locus out of the climactic fight.

It just all smacks of poor writing and a lack of anyone giving a shit. But since Fullscreen took over and they started getting tons of money from RWBY their website and RvB took a back seat to orders from LA. So the forums I spent over a decade on are dead and the only halfway decent show they have apart from Day5 (which is surprisingly good) has just had two of the worst seasons so far.

The caves were the problem.

Red not only has better overall sniper vantages, they can sneak through the caves and be right on top of Blue with no effort.

I miss maps like Chiron and Longest all shotguns.

Boarding Action was amazing.

And Prisoner, all players invisible, no shields, rockets only, King of the Hill. We called it Nutzw.
