Is it worth it to join the national guard to learn about AR's and shooting while also getting paid? Is the training actually worth it or better to save up and get training from a private Org?

if you're joining the guard to learn how to be super operator man you'll be disappointed. You do get some training but sounds like you'd be better off taking some classes.
Benefits are neat tho.
former national guard Infantryman here, after basic training, shot live rounds 5 times. 3 times for quals, 2 times for live fire stx lanes.
the pay is shit, the training is shit, that's a terrible reason to join the guard

Did you go active or not
my friend is ROTC at Colorado State University trained to be an National Guard aircraft electricia n he is getting full room and board and doesn't have to do much once hes out of school, work a few weeks a month being an officer telling grunts to crank shafts on helicopters. seems pretty good if you want free college

nope, got reclassed to tanker. another 2 years on the contract and I can leave this bullshit behind. maybe if there was an actual war going on I'd go active or re-up, but with this 1990's tier garrison bullshit, I'd rather just finish my degree and get a real job

Kansas?
If your your looking for something to do and a little bit of training it's not a bad deal. Get it out of the way before you start your real career though. It can be a pain in the ass.
