I usually buy them. But I'm kinda disappointed in one thing. The silhoutte kinds are fine but the realistic ones, can we be honest about something? It needs to be updated.

Depends on what I'm doing. I've got a set of Dot Torture and Splatterburst targets I bought in Amazon for plinking and drills, but I'll print out my targets if I'm zeroing a rifle.

Yes, on the upslope of the bullet's parabolic flight, it will hit the black dot at 50, and it will hit it again at 200 on the downslope of the flightpath.

Print, I have an architectural plotter. I also just use a ruler and draw my own with markers on old plans. Nobody else at the range has 1920s cartoons to shoot at. I like to add a bluebird on their shoulder and smiling suns and moons because you can get a lot of 3x5 shapes on one sheet. But I suppose you could carry the joke bix nood posters and risk getting tossed out by sjw ro's.

I keep them at my dad's place since that's where I do most of my shooting. It's a mix between animal silhouettes and bullseyes with some pic related thrown in.

I had a similar experience. Pic related, with a piece of printer paper on top for size reference. IDK how many of these white targets I have, but it's a lot. And then there's those orange ones and quite a few deer vitals targets too.

I can do that pretty regular even with irons shooting standing offhand on similar sized steel targets for a while, but my eyes stop focusing right after 5 or 10 mins and all of a sudden the difficulty goes way up. A scope & sitting position makes it pretty easy.
Actually, I barely ever shoot paper because farm scrap discs are so much more fun, whether it's 100 or 400 yards.

Then discs like your pic for a backstop. Pic related has stopped probably hundreds of 54r steel core, 545x39, 762x39.
But 223/556 will zip right through it because of the speed. So I don't really use it for that caliber.
