Has anyone here even shot a short barreled 308 before? I have. It's uncomfortable. It's worse than a 50 BMG and worse than a Lahti. You will feel it in your chest from behind a building 100m away from the shot.

BSR FAL is pointless. the loss of velocity that comes with chopping the barrel that far means you might as well be using an SBR AK.

Depends really on what you're doing. Its still higher velocity than .223 by about 800fps, but at 400 ft the velocity is p much the same as .223 from an SBR. So if you're shooting as short ranges then it would be beneficial (though unpleasant report and more difficult followup shots), but if you're shooting at medium to long ranges then, by picking an SBR .308 over an SBR .223, you are literally gaining nothing.

.308 and 7.62x39 are very similar in performance out of short barrels.

Just a heads up, 308 isn't very dimensionally ideal for short barrels. Its just a lot more flash and noise.
