Why are glocks so popular?
>>
>>34897115
They're problem solvers.
>>
>>34897115

Relatively cheap, huge ass aftermarket selections and easy to use.
>>
>>34897115
Affordability with reliabilty and a thin design that makes CC more possible.
Im not a big fan of glocks but they aren't terrible.

Pretty easy learning curve, generally affordable, massive aftermarket, lightweight, highly customizable, decent capacity, inexpensive magazines... Just a general purpose no non-sense auto-loader. I personally didn't like the Gen 2 G17 I've shot, but I can see why people like em.

>It gets picked up for evidence
>Police molest and rape it
>It gets return in an abused state

>Kill someone in self defense with your slut of a glock
>It gets put through the actions
>Returned used but its a slut so why bother

because they're the best handguns in the world.

Why are Camrys so popular?
>>
Easy to use, reliable, durable. They're purely functional and do it well.
>>
>>34897251
if glock is a camry
hk is a honda
>>
>>34897115
Its a no nonsense hand gun in many calibers. It comes down easy and is durable and just generally hard to fuck up. Its a good first handgun imo
>>
They need to make a 22 ffs.
>>
>>34897274
I'd more over say HK is BMW. Glock is Honda, CZ is Nissan, Colt is Chevy, S&W is Ford, and Hi-Point is Pontiac.
>>
>>34897307

This is all accurate.
>>
>>34897193

The only problem I have with this is that Pontiacs aren't as ugly as Hi-points, otherwise I agree.
>>
>>34897448
Was thinking of going with the Glock 19, is it worth the extra money going with the g21 45.?

The real answer is this. They've been around longer and advertise more. That's it. People on here will debate back and fourth on why it's the best or why it sucks. It's a gun, it goes bang. I had a couple and sold them. I like my Beretta's and m&p better, also more fun to shoot, for me at least. If you are curious about it try it out. If you like it buy it, if not get something else. It isn't any more or less reliable or more gooder than any other modern day striker fired, polymer framed handgun made by a reputable manufacturer today. So stop being an autist and fuck off.
>>
>>34897500
no, 9mm is the best pistol caliber
>>
>>34897608
how so, just because cheaper?
>>
>>34897679
same lethality as .45 with much better capacity
>>
>>34897115

For me it was the cheapest and most readily available 10mm available.
>>
>>34897307
CZ would be Volvo. Glock would be Toyota. Colt would be Jeep.
>>
>>34897307
Glock is not Honda. Honda hasn't had any major QC issues like Glock has.

Glock is literally Ford. Cops use Glocks, cops use Fords. Glock .40 blows up, Ford Crown Victoria blows up. I can think of many other comparisons actually.

where exactly do you think you are?

I could give you 10 salient points as to why the glock is superior in almost every way to every other handgun on the market.
>>
>>34898218
But really, the only thing that matters is the slide. Beretta's don't have the sticky slide, they don't nip your fingers, they get the contract.
Everytime.
>>
>>34898222
If you don't mind them occasionally jamming on you cause you got a hot round caught in the feed mechanism.
>>
>>34898226
Can't pull the trigger if you can't pull back the slide..
>>
>>34898236
I appreciate the glocks more robust construction. When you are combat, you have so much adrenaline going through you body that on a berretta you can pull the slide right off.

Besides, you should always carry a live round in the chamber. 9/10 when you draw you will forget all about the slide.
>>
>>34898218
Provide those 10 salient points please. Stay as objective as possible.

All these answers are close to being right except for the anti-glock revisionists who for whatever reason find their identity through fanboying brands.

Gaston Glock came to the scene as an outsider and redesigned the modern pistol. He was, if i remember correctly, a an expert of the time in plastic synthesis. His approach simplified pistols causing reliability to greatly increase. The guns were also cheap to produce leading to more affordable pricing. Glocks were first met with skepticism from the old gun crowd that needed muh steel but eventually gained acceptance as it proved itself a good gun. Glock was the first breakout success for polymer guns so it has the image of being the forefather of polymer guns. Polymer striker guns are "the gun" of our generation, as steel da/sa were "the gun" of the generation before, and revolvers were "the gun" of the generation before that.

Camry was number 1 most sold car in the US in 2016. Its a fact. Overall its 4th, behind Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet trucks.
>>
>>34899607
Tl;dr: Guy that didn't know shit about guns came along and made upgrades to them. Caused a stir in the gun community, birthed the plastic gun meme, ushered in a new era for firearms, triggered the old fudds of the generation before. Essentially was able to make a more reliable gun for cheaper. Now every brand makes a glock clone.
>>
>>34897500
A glock 19 and a glock 21 should have the same msrp.

In practice, it's the ultimate base gun: simple to use, lightweight, combat accurate, and reliable: nothing more, nothing less.

It's insane popularity is owed to brilliant marketing: they sold them dirt cheap to military and police units worldwide. Then they sold them to the civilian market on the heels of "if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for you." It worked. Popularity continues because of that reputation.

That's basically it.

Is this a glock thread? Could a glock 26 subcompact be the "do-all" gun I'm looking for? Mainly a really good concealed carry option that could also pull double duty as home defense. Normally glock 19's are considered the "do-all" however a glock 26 conceals better on my body and I was thinking just slapping a 12 round mag to allow full grip or even a 15 round mag could serve as home defense.
>>
>>34897144
Glocks are thicker than most other steel pistols before it. They are lighter, and that's what makes them more attractive for carry.
>>
>>34900080
Their MSRP is about the same as most other reputable brand striker guns. It's just that Glocks have such high name recognition and sell so well, that most gun shops don't need to sell it for less than MSRP like other guns. Look at this summer, just about every major manufacturer has $50-100 mail in rebates, goody bags, extra mags, etc that they are throwing at consumers for help with sluggish sales except for Glock.
>>
>>34897848
Alex, ill take airbags for $400
>>
>>34905185
The only things you lose with the 26 over the 19 are the rail for more WML choices, and a pretty insignificant amount of sight radius and velocity. You can put a 15 round mag in it with a grip sleeve and it's practically the same thing. Reloads are slightly harder, for me at least, because the grip sleeve catches on my palm flesh and doesn't drop free. That's it. I don't think there is anything else.
>>
Striker fired handguns are just simple to use. Glocks are simply the best of their kind.
>>
>>34897115
Middle of the road as far as quality goes, won't break the bank to buy one, doesn't have a bunch of extra bells and whistles slapped on it, and its pretty easy to get parts or modifications for them
>>
>>34905495
>Middle of the road as far as quality goes
They're actually perfect in this sense as carry guns. Their finish is good at resisting corrosion and wear and their internals will hold up well to typical use, but they aren't so overbuilt and high quality that they enter the luxury price bracket (and would probably dissuade people from carrying them).
