Cold War gone hot essentials
>Team Yankee
>Chieftains
>Red Army
Read Red Army. Best goddamn book.

Wasn't a big fan of Team Yankee, but Chieftains is Bretty gud.

Regardless of any opinion on the Movie, the book goes really in depth and explains a lot more than the movie. I was very glad I read the Book before I saw the movie. Book is easily 9/10.

Why wasn't this ever made into a movie?

That's what I've always wondered, leagues better than Rainbow Six books or Endwar. Hell I'd say it's a better book than Red October, would probably need a pretty big budget though to execute it correctly though.
Unintended Consequences
It has both a gay rape scene and a straight rape scene too. Fun for everyone!
Ha ha! Time for Stoßtruppen.
Has a great flow - almost feels like watching a film.
For the /k/anadians. All the Bren guns, SNAFUs, and griping about imbecilic brass you ever asked for. Great section involving a lost patrol of Canucks stabbing krauts to death with shivs in a pitch-black stove factory, surrounded by noxious and combustible chemical vats.

Great book. I was really transported by this

Had a chance to pick up Bowden's latest?
Great book on Vietnam from an embedded journalist like Sebastian Junger in WAR
Is like Tom Clancy books but everything is real.
Memoir from a man who personified "stiff upper lip". Had to search No Man's Land alone to find the remains of his son. Was only able to find his boy's hand.
Did anybody else just want to give this poor kid a hug?
Bretty gud
Super comprehensive. I couldn't put this down. Great stories of covert actions in Afghanistan and iraq. And very long. Learned that delta, seals, and SAS aren't as mysterious as the army of north Virginia and orange

Ill check it. hell, ill probably buy or "buy" all the books I haven't read in this thread
Anyone read Genocidal Organ? There's quite a bit of hamfisted psuedo-philosophy in the vein of Hideo Kojima (he was friends with the author after all) but has an interesting vision of the future of warfare.
There's also an anime movie based on it that is coming to blu-ray soon and there's some talks of a live action adaption from the director of Old Boy (the korean version)

also essential if you are into Delta, all Dalton Fury books

Those organic drop pods were pretty cool. If we're doing weeb novels, Kino no Tabi is an excellent series. The author clearly has a boner over guns and military hardware, but doesn't let it get in the way of telling some neat stories. Very simple prose, they're more like a collection of fairy tales, but with a Colt Woodsman wielding, Brough Superior riding badass in the middle of them.
I liked this book quite a bit.
I don't remember much, but it goes in depth of the gunfights he was in, and how he survived innawoods for 30 years.
No tacticool shit in it, but it's about serving your duty
If you're sick of srs business

God damn these books were fucking incredible
I would reccomend the Jack West Jr. series more though

The latest one was a bit of a let down. Would have been netter off doing it as a crossover with Temple rather than Scarecrow
