You're not going to make it combat ready for the modern day. It wasn't combat ready 70 years ago, it's meant to stop fragmentation from bombs, grenades, artillery, and mortars reaching your head, not bullets. Maybe add some soft lining or pads to the inside to make it more comfortable to wear? If you seriously want something that'll protect your head in real modern combat get a PASGT or a newer model of american helmet. Surprise surprise, 2017's helmets blow 1935's helmets out of the water.

German here, the B2 helmet (later known as the M56) was much more superior to the M35, but it did not went into production because of muh aestethics.

With tanks, while the panther was probably ONE of the best tanks around, the bigger is better mantra of the tigers was just stupid. Also they are fandomized, emaning they where not as good as claimed (fun fact, a sherman had more or less the same effective armor as a Tiger 1, because what is armor sloping?).
