Yeah, they are extremely popular. There are several probably-Russian cans I can't even ID. I don't have the pic on my phone, but one type tightens down like a ratchet instead of having slots cut for the FSB detent.

I've obtained a stamped Mak90 for ridiculously cheap. Where can I find a non-thumbhole-stock kit for less than the $200+ Ironwood Designs stock kits? I can't see spending more on a stock than I spent on the rifle.

>>
>>34896131
you spent 200 on the rifle? did you fucking steal it? anways KEEP the thumbhole stock just in case you decide to ever sell it. it keeps the original value. Go on akfiles or some sort of private party selling site and find the real deal norinco buttstock and pistol grips. Or just buy a 4pc. set and replace it all. it's the best way it'll look.

lads i woke up this morning and impulse purchased a lee armory romanian BFPU ak.

What did i just do? Is lee armory any good? Atlantic firearms had them listed for 699 and when i went to put it in my cart it JUST sold out. Then i looked on lee armory website and they had them on sale for 599 so i guess i lucked out. But still i dont know anything about lee armory how do they compare to say a WASR? I already have an arsenal and a vepr so its ok if its not top tier as long as its not shit tier like a ras47 or IO.

also i got it with no dong, was this a mistake?
>>
>>34896441
Snitch Armory.
>>
>>34896441
It's not shit tier like IO or Century shit (WASR excluded) and won't blow up in your face. You just got Jew'd. All he did was put together Romanian parts kits without refinishing them and called it "BFPU". Well, maybe not Jew'd, since it's around the cost of a parts kit and labor to have it assembled.
>>
>>34896441
why not just get a wasr? and no they aren't as bad as ras47 and IO.
>>
>>34896441
Probably built off some low quality no name us receiver. Definitely us barrel. You can always buy a dong. I'd say seeing how WASRs are the same price you fucked up. Hopefully it works out for you though
>>
>>34896489
you can actually get wasr's for cheaper then what he spent on that. Would have had money left over to get a romy BFPU dong set. mistakes were made but live and learn.
>>
>>34896515
where can i get a wasr for below 600
>>
>>34896489
US barrels aren't that bad. I'd never buy a rifle with one in it, but most people just shoot casually and never put a high round count on their guns so they'll never see the difference. I agree about the receiver and getting a WASR.
>>34896526
Sportsmans Guide just had a sale on them for $530 and you can get them for less or the same on GB all the time.
>>
>>34896526
alot of places, dont have any links but all the time I see posts from websites selling them for the low $500s and you can buy them for even cheaper used or off AKfiles that'll come with mags.

Yes. Make sure it's either a M70 AB2 or a Gen II NPAP. Fucking love mine. I shoot it a lot more than my Gucci Arsenal and my WASR.

Also watch out, the folding stock can be painful if you try resting your cheek on it like normal.

If you get a fixed stock, make sure it's the updated Warsaw Pact ones and not the fat Chris Brown stocks.

Are cent wasr's crap or will I get something decent out of the box? I'm trying to decide between that and a m70 underfolder. I really like the compact aspect of the m70 but quality is inconsistent and not as many custom parts
>>
>>34896876
I thought the folder made it more comfortable? I know the old stock was enough to make you retarded. Does wrapping the UF make a difference or is it not even worth it, just keep your face off m8
>>
>>34896893

Like I just said,

>>34896876
WASR's are good. I do prefer my M70 AB2 over it a little more. I just don't like the crappy finish.

If you do get a WASR, make sure it was made after 2013. Their QC greatly improved after around that time after seeing how popular they became.

M92 PAP's with braces or stocks are great, too.
>>
>>34896921

No, no. The UF is way more uncomfortable than the stock. Especially in the winter when it gets cold.

I like to completely rest my cheek when I'm really focused. I just don't rest so hard with my M70 AB2 so it doesn't clip my cheek bone. It's not bad and I do highly recommend it. It is my go-to pig gun and I've shot at least 100+ hogs with it.

Definitely worth it for the underfolding stock. I can get in and out of my truck or my hunting buddy's Polaris with it.
>>
>>34896784
You're probably right. The guy is a literal Jew after all.
>>
>>34896946

Btw. Try to get it for $600 or less. I would absolutely refuse anything more than $700.

Also make sure the gun isn't canted along with the sights. If there's no canting -- buy it immediately and it will serve you very well.
>>
>>34897024
That's what I'm worried about, apparently these things are as canted as they are not. Not sure if I want to roll the dice because apparently even if you send it back, those guys don't do shit to fix it
>>
>>34897039

They don't. I bugged my LGS and they ordered three of them because I told them another friend of mine who frequents the store wanted one, too.

They called me the day they got them and I picked the best of the three. None of them were canted so I ended up picking out the best set of wood on them.

The same with my M92, picked the best of the two. Though, these are a lot harder to end up getting canted since they're so short.
>>

Neither am I. But my shooting buddy and I have two rancher friends (Texas here) with hog problems. Instead of paying someone, they let us shoot them for free.

My buddy uses a beat to shit Norinco AK with a fucking 10/22 wire folding stock he Bubba'd on after seeing how well my underfolder worked when jumping out of the pickup. He bought it for $300 a long time ago. I'll have to take pictures, it will make everyone on here cringe. My favorite AK related conversation was,

>"Damn man, you've got some rust on this receiver. Do you oil it?"
>"I just clean that piece of shit with WD-40"
>"Uh, Tom. I don't think that'll protect it."
>"It doesn't. That's why I ended up painting that old thing. Guess it needs new paint."
>"YOU JUST PAINTED THE RUST?!"
>"Yeah! Works great!"

Favorite shooting buddy but Jesus Christ, he treats his AK like dog shit. All of his other guns are un-Bubba's and in fantastic shape.

....Except a Lee-Enfield he turned into a "Scout Rifle". But that's another story.
>>

>>
>>34897204
if all it is to him is a beater gun that he uses to kill hogs then fuck it. if he's making it easier on him by using the wire folding stock then the original it makes sense, not like he's trying to keep it as a collectible.
>>

Arsenal isn't going to abandon us. They're just making a fuck ton more money selling to a country in need of weapons in the proper as -designed configuration, rather than pussyfooting around our importation laws.

If it were me, I'd go with the vepr between the two, I've got the 20" 308 model and it's super nice overall and scopes up nicely with one of my cheap romanian pso equivalents. IMO, they look best with a rpk style flash hider, but I'm seriously considering a flash enhancer, or something else really obnoxious one of these days. I love max fireballs.
My biggest turnoffs on the SAM are the lack of an ak-74 style front sight base & brake, no scope rail, and I find milled aks to be on the ugly & odd looking side. Not really a fan of the overall rifle.

It's spelled that way several times on the site, lol. I wonder if some shitty place in Bulgaria is making these under that name. My only Bulgarian triangle is spot welded in addition to the seam welds

Also, looking at this pic >>34900402 and looking at the site, It looks like a 4.5mm stock to me. Unless whoever is making these isn't doing the cutout in the section the latch pin goes in.

Awesome, thank you. Doesn't seem to leave much room for a pin. Assuming the pin centerline is actually tangent to the barrel OD, that's only leaving ~.08" between the pin channel and grooves. Front sight is clearly cast as well, so less support for the pin on the bottom side..

>Very strange even the Taiwan built one has spot welds.

Yes, as much shit as the taiwan stocks get sometimes I think the ones I've owned and installed were built better than this.

I figured it was worth a shot at $15 more than the taiwan models, especially since it's supposed to be 5.5mm and I might eventually want an STKBR or zenit stock.

In the process of buying an Arsenal, where do you guys get your 5.45x39 ammo? I'm pretty much a poorfag so I don't know why I bought into this dead caliber.

Also, does anyone here own an Obzor? How well does it work if you have astigmatism?
>>
>>34901189
http://gun-deals.com/list/ammo/5.45x39
I get the barnaul sealed ammo in tins, just because I love how pretty that and surplus ammo are. I've had good luck with bear ammo too, never tried wolf.
The only brand I avoid is golden tiger because it doesn't have the boat tailed needle bullet that makes me love the round. I don't trust it to yaw proper in critters. I need to buy some and test it one of these days anyway.

I see it too. Someone on /k/ must ctrl-f "545x39" on the regular and feel he has to announce that it's dead whenever he finds a result.
There's plenty of commercial brands to buy for any caliber. I guess you could argue that certain ammo like 54r will be more expensive in the future, but it's not that bad.

>>
>>34900412

>>
>>34901783
It is neat, but the "lifelong buddy" aspect is what makes me think it's just gonna make it harder when she does pass. Most parrots live for 15-20 years for the smaller species out to 70-80 for the larger ones. Winston Churchill's bird is still around last I checked and that one was born in 1899. Mine's expected to live 40-50 years; she's something like 13 now since I got her when she was 6 or so and her old owner passed away.

She's not my first bird, nor will she be my last in all likelihood, but having my childhood bird die in my hands after 7 years from illness was horrible enough. I'm not looking forward to repeating that experience after a few decades of companionship.

Every cat in this pic is dead. Sucks, but I guess that's the price of having anywhere between a few and 15 farm cats on any given year. Overall it's a good thing, all sorts of weird and quirky personalities that crop up again from time to time.

I'm glad I didn't sell my 5.45 AK when people starting panicking about ammo availability.

What's up with bird owners and being delusional pieces of shit?
>His claims have been solidly rejected by the administrators of the Chartwell property, Churchill's former country home, who have no record of any parrot. Further, Churchill's daughter, Lady Soames, has denied her father ever owned a macaw. According to Soames, Churchill did own an African grey parrot named Polly, but sold the bird before assuming the role of Prime Minister.
>>
emmm /k/, are AKs painted or oxidized?
>>
>>34901999
Both
>>
>>34901928
Well, the panic isn't over yet. Give it another month and a half or so. Even then, I get the feeling that those who are seriously attached to 5.45 will end up consolidating the nation's 5.45 stocks as they buy up remaining guns and ammo from people "getting out of the caliber."

>>34901999
Depends on who made it.
>>
>>34902024

People started panicking about 5.45 availability like two years ago or some shit anon. This isn't a recent phenomenon. I've been hearing the "NO MORE GUNNA BE IMPORTED" for so long it's just a bad meme at this point.
