The battle of Latakia during the Yom Kippur War is probably what modern naval warfare will look line.
Heavy use of missiles, ECM, and extremely lopsided casualties even with near-peer adversaries.
Modern naval warfare speculation thread.
What happens when the missiles run dry on both sides, ECM and hard kills being largely effective?
Does it reach a point where defenses are sufficient for combatants to close to gun range?
Do we need, dare I say it, big gun cruisers? Or...battleships?

If not that battle then look at the Falklands War in which the Argentine Navy got shut down due to fear of submarine attacks and the Royal Navy got hit by air attacks.

If I recall, Egyptian Russian ships emptied their missiles and has no guns so the Israelis were able to close in and fire their guns on them.
That's why newer Soviet fast attack crafts has a big gun.

We should also note that the USA is investing in hard kill torpedo countermeasures which has already been fitted to some of their carriers. It will be interesting to see how this technology matures.

What OP posted, I remember correctly, is exactly what you're looking for. Israeli ships were waiting for Syrian boats to fire their missiles at max range and defeat them, then close in and fire their own missiles that ended up easily sinking all of the Syrian boats.

why aren't any of those boats in those rivers
Radical prediction - Arabs lose
>extremely lopsided casualties
>Arabs
