Holy shit, /k/,
The royal crown in Albany has decreed that I shall be granted the privileged of owning a pistol for my personal use!
I have been thinking over what pistol I wanted to own for a long time, I was feeling good about a .357 Ruger GP100 with a 6" barrel. But I am still in debate of whether to go for the blued steel or the stainless steel?
My local gunshop has both versions and I am struggling to decide which to get.
I like blued steel because its got that classic look, especially in partnered with a wood grip
Stainless looks nice and shiny and is apparently less maintenance, but heavier?
Help me /k/ which should I go for?

Well hypothetically, if you ever feel like carrying it, the blued finish won't catch the eye as much
Not like anyone would brake the law here
>>34886431
Blued finishes are for old fudds, stainless is the most common revolver finish for a reason
I occasionally like a nice, blued finish.
Of which Rugers do not have. Get the stainless.
Nice blued revolvers are old shit like Webleys and Enfields. If youre gonna get a Colt or Smith or something just get stainless.
I like blued because it basically means black.
>>34886431
Stainless helps prevent rust.
Not on all guns but I've definitely seen a difference on Rugers I've owned.
>>34886431
Corrosion resistant steel has poor wear properties and is not as strong as carbon steel.
But you'd never notice. Get what you want.
>>34886462
With the rubber grips, I'd actually propose that the GP100 blued has a more tactical appeal. With wood grips, yeah, it's fudd.
Regardless, there's not a bad choice here.
I've owned a blued GP100, and I have a stainless SP101, and I can say that the blued finish can pick up rust if you're not careful.
Stainless

so it's tactiocool or fudd with blued steel?
meh, I guess I'll just get the stainless. Less maintenance to worry about for my first pistol. and maybe when I get a .44 down the line, Ill go for a nice blued metal.
>>34886431
I like blued. because carbon steel>stainless steel
Stainless
>>34886462
>Blued finishes are for old fudds...says the wee lad with limited knowledge on such things.
>>34886455
Well also if he plans on carrying it I wouldn't suggest a 6inch gp100

get whatever you want, then have it professionally coated.

Bro, this is 2017. You can have your grandpa gun, and take it places you never imagined.
>>34886455
if you carry it, it shouldn't be in anyones eye. even bigger deal is where you carry, where I'm at i still need to watch out for rust on my stainless gun because how bad the swamp ass is around here.
stainless for carry, a good deep bluing looks better imo

Blued
Stainless is for faggots who like shiny things.
A true operator does not wish to be flashy nor conspicuous under any operation, especially covert or greyman scenarios

>A true operator
stopped reading right there
>>34886431
Why don't they make polymer framed revolvers
Steel is old news
>>34891500
>Chris Kyles internally
>>34891500
the only thing he truly knows how to operate is the microwave for the tostino pizza rolls his mom buys for him
>>34891522
they do make them just the barrel and cylinder is stainless.
his problem is looking at rugers. Rugers are nice but the airweight SM's will always be better
>>34891656
>airweight Smiths are better than airweight Rugers
why
>>34891500
>>34891638
not an argument
>>34886462
>most common revolver finish
Uh... no.
Stainless GP best GP
If we ignore aesthetics and concealment concerns, what's the difference really?
I've seen people say stainless is less corrosion resistant and blued or nitride is somehow more stainless than stainless.
>>34886431
I like blued because it's more lopro but whatever you like, neither is wrong. Seems to me in many threads that /k/ isn't a huge fan of blued but you can't win em all
>>34891638
A true operator knows that it's totinos pizza rolls you fuckin mook.
>>34893072
>totinos pizza
totinos a best
The choice of discriminating operators everywhere.
>>34892890
I'm a fan of blued. but it was my understanding that stainless was actually the superior finish because "stainless" but i dont know the real scoop
>>34892890
Stainless is more resistant to rust, but blued uses carbon steel which people say is stronger
>>34886431
just get a glawk
