This here is a shot timer. It is also a lie detector and a stress inducer. If you do not have a shot timer, you are pretty much wasting your time.

pic related works just fine for most uses in lue of a real one. You have to adjust sensitivity correctly or it wont work. But once you find the right level it works great.

I rarely shoot for speed but for accuracy. Most of the time I am either plinking or trying to make a single jagged hole in the paper. The only time shooting for speed even exists in my shooting habits comes into play with a black powder musket and any shot clock would freak out like heck at 20+ seconds per shot when I am not aiming.
