Did it serve well?
>>34876982
It was few years behind and wasn't really good in the first place(the locking system is beyond retarded). Garand is much better, SVT is also better than that and that's about all there is for widely used WW2 semi-auto rifles.
>>34876982
No, soldiers would be better off with an SVT. The G43 was just awful, not to mention the fact that late war production quality made it worse.
>tangent sight
Why did the Nazis insist on staying behind the curve?
>>34877291
I think its more a what do we have left/ what can we already make kinda deal.
It was shit, but no worse than the SVT. The only semi-auto worth a damn that saw widespread deployment was the M1.
Possible fudd lore, but I've heard that they were designed with the muddy eastern front in mind, so they were over gassed to be able to function while caked in mud. This had the downside of the receiver weakening over time when the gun is clean, eventually ending with a kb and the bolt flying into your face.

Don't forget the M1.
>>34879232
That sounds retarded given how harsh the action is battered when overgassed. Many guns you find seem overgassed though, and generally you can stop them breaking by stepping down the gas pressure.
But the Nazis weren't exactly geniuses so I could see it.
As somebody with one I can say its a hunk of shit honestly. Really useless device with a lot of problems. I mean its a fun shooter for a collector but honestly its not that great.
pic related, mine.

If you haven't already, get your gas system tuned, the worst problems stem from overgassing
>>34880872
replaced the gas system with a modern one and I reverted it back since the modern one is gay as fuck. Its not gassing thats the issue its stovepiping and other jams due to SLIDE PLATES thats the problem.
>>34876982
It was basically just a shittier version of the SVT-40
>>34880920
Which is amazing because the SVT40 is already pretty bad.
>>34880911
It's a pretty... odd action. Not sure what they were thinking.
>>34880920
(you)
what a shitty stupid comment its not like the SVT at all though.
>>34880936
Not an SVT at all. But yeah its fucking insanity designed. Also jewish slave labor builds
Anyone has info on the Gerat 03 roller locked, short stroke piston rifle like field tests and the likes?
>>34880920
Explain yourself, brainlet. I want to hear your excuse for spouting that garbage.
>>34876982
nah
there was no need for it as there where several superior designs being produced in germany.
a semi auto of that caliber is barely better than a bolt action in most circumstances (and way more expensive).
>>34880943
>>34880956
I think he means how the short stroke piston is copied from the SVT40.
Which makes sense because the short-stroke piston is a good idea and the Bang Trap is atrocious.
