Do any modern rifles still use these? If so, what are the advantages and disadvantages?
AK's are long stroke and they're not going anywhere for a long time.
It's not the best system but it's far from the worst, only real downside is a slight increase in recoil due to the extra mass reciprocating.

I remember someone telling me that they were less accurate than short stroke, which was in turn less accurate than DI. Thoughts?

More moving parts = less accurate

A piston offset from the bore will sort of affect accuracy to a point, as it's a weight above the barrel shifting back and forth.
Compare to the AR15 which has a 100% inline action, there is no separate piston, just the bolt going back and forth, there's no mass above or around the bore moving around. The stock is also entirely inline.
These things actually do contribute a bit to accuracy, it's not insubstantial.
