This is the biggest thing people are forgetting. The Norks appear to have stolen/bought enough missile tech to make functional delivery vehicles, but they've been on their own when comes to making actual atomic weapons. Sure 10 kt can kill a shit ton of people but the general public keeps conflating that with the megaton level bombs developed during the Cold War. Honestly if the Norks actually manage to nuke US soil most of the casualties would be from people panicking and killing each other trying to flee population centers.

The thing is even China is getting sick of N. Korea and their uppity attitude since they want to be an actual economic power in the world and N.Korea is a massive hindrance to that goal. Plus, they have colonies in East Africa where they harvest resources, so the economic fallout by cutting N. Korea will be minimal. I honestly think they want us to get rid of N. Korea since that way they can invade and get all the coal rich regions in the North, which is basically the only reason why they bother with Kim Jong Il in the first place.
