Let's have a thread for guns that shoot the only government you can trust
What are your thoughts on pic related? it's a new repro 45-70 trapdoor rifle made by uberti. if I wasn't such a poorfag I'd buy one in an instant. What's interesting is I can't really find that many youtube videos on this rifle.
Post your 45-70 guns in this thread
How is a 45-70 bullet better than a 12 gauge slug?
>>34873352
>better range
>better penetration
>better ballistics
45-70 ftw
>>34873339
I want exactly this, but a 20 gauge or something.
Pedersoli and Baikal both make .45-70 double rifles. The Pedersoli is gorgeous.
The Baikal is the ugly stepsister to the Pedersoli. Would still jump on one.
.45-70 is such an awesome round.
I don't have a 45-70 yet but I desperately want a Sharps 1874 Quigley. (inb4 it was a 45-110 fags. I know that, 45-70 has better ballistics so deal with it)
Pedersoli vs Uberti?
>>34873665
>le epic double rifle
This isnt pre-1900's british aristocracy. double rifles are autistic guns
45-70 is a big guy yeah?
>>34873352

>>34873339
you can pick up model 1888 spike bayonet variants in decent shape with glorious buffington rear sights for under $1k and ship them right to your door.
If you're dead set on getting a NEW gun, don't let me stop you, but it seems a little silly to me
sadly not mine
taste the rainbow. shoot the rainbow.
>not using .45-120 sharps
its like you dont even want to kill the charging moose.
I've also got a CT militia peabody in 45-70 that I'm now aware that I have no decent pictures of. I'll have to remedy that soon
>>34874365
buddy of mine just won this lot
looking forward to experiencing the magic of 45-120
>>34873800
Get the fuck out of here noguns, you spam that stupid pic every time someone brings up 4570.
Also have this one incoming. should arrive in a couple days
>>34874445

No ATF, ain't happenin. Go after the guy in that pic related, he's making thermite.
Also best .45-70 gummint coming through
>>34874512
kind of... local 400 yd range does a "buffalo" match shooting at a steel buffalo target, and I intend to use it for the black power class. Should be a little more precise then my trapdoor
I've got one of these
>>34874512
you dont need no big bore rifle to kille a buffaluh.
sheit, you can kill a bear with 30 WCF.
How is .45-70 vs 500 S&W out of a rifle length barrel (estimate that length as you will)
>>34874559
>10 barrel bulldog
That looks like a Colt Repo.
Did Colt make 10 barrel repos?
>>34873743

Is this a new model? Never seen a 10 barrel repo.
I bought one of the original repos with the carriage, but it wasn't 10 barrels.
>>34874559
Mr Gun Dealer in Grand Rapids?
They have two of those for around $50,000 each.

you call buffaluh harvest'in "hunt'in", it aint hunt'in. The dam thing jus stands thur.
why don't yah try hunt'in summin thats an actual challengin.
>>34874777
Don't know what the fuck to tell ya, there are 10 barrels in the picture. I beleive they made two editions of the bulldog. The five barrel example that was at RIA a while ago was the second edition. Maybe the first was 10 barreled but they figured it was overkill? Maybe Colt's a shit company that doesn't even try anymore?
>>34874837
>Stand stil
Wagh!l
Now I hung few men but that don make me a judge. Now I know fat bull from poor calf. This niggur's trapped errywhare from a Snake to Taos, the Flatheads to Colter's Billins. I done raised the har a brave a five distinkt nashins. I kilt Ol' Ephraim an Ol Slewfoot, wooves, an painters galore. Done been charged by bull moose an annelopes. Heard the war cry a two hunnid Blackfeet not tweny feet from camp. Faced them icy canada winds through thirty plains winters. Most scaret this crittur's been was a lookin straight at a sea a chargin buffler wit they hackles up.
>>34874837
>why don't yah try hunt'in summin thats an actual challengin.
. .. like a badger?
>>34875943
Wagh, I seent many a badger send Ol Ephraim into a caterwaulin flight, I have!
What's a good 45-70 lever action that isn't retarded to reload.
>>34873744
For you
>>34874365
>Not 50-90 Sharps
It's like you WANT the Buffalo to laugh at you
>>34873339
I really want a pre-remshit version of my Marlin 336 in .45-70. I really want the 26" barreled cowboy model, but good ones are almost $1k.
>>34876159
An Pre-64 Winchester (JOHN WAYNE INTENSIFIES) or a Pre-64 Marlin.
>>34876616
there ain't nothing wrong with the new marlins and they're cheap too
>>34876596
Supposedly the newest ones are ok again, I ain't handled one, but I know it's never going to be as smooth as my '53 336. I've seen CBs go for $600 regularly at a gunshop outside Philly
>>34873824
L... LEWD
THIS IS A WORKSAFE BOARD
>tfw actually just salty because nogunz
>>34873339
The repo 45-70 trapdoor actually aren't accurate repos. I think specifically there is like an added screw or something as part of the bolt (which is one solid piece on the original)that can come loose and blow you up. Finish is superb though.
>>34873352
It has a better cross-sectional density, meaning better and straighter penetration, for example you can push a 437 gran slug at ~1200 fps, or you could push a 450 grain 45/70 st ~1200 fps, but the slug is about .70 caliber, and 45/70 is .455, same weight, at the same speed, but with a narrower bullet will penetrate better, especially with hardcasts.
>>34873339
Get a marlin, so you can actually run real loads.
>>34873744
You can nearly get it to .458 lott weight/speeds in the right gun. .458 lott is a favorite elephant gun.
>>34876596
>version of 336 in 45/70
Those models are called 1890
>pre remshit
that is preferred, but all marlin after the first half of 2014 are fine.
>>34878782
>here is like an added screw or something as part of the bolt (which is one solid piece on the original)that can come loose and blow you up.
holy shit wat
