I have been interested in "home" reloading, reloading brass with buying anything, for a while now.
I've successfully made powder, projectiles and even a few pieces of brass.
What is the best way to make primers at home?
*without

Unfortunately while powder can be homebrewed, primers are such an exact and sensitive component of the bullet that it's very difficult to synthesize. I would start by keeping all spent primers and reforming the anvil inside. Or fill it with the same materials those 'TNT POP-ITS' are made with
Also check out youtube. I think somebody has some material but I remember it being harder to find than just searching "homemade primers"
good luck

Ive heard of making primers from mercury fulminate, its rather sensitive and extremely corrosive. I believe it was used in early percussion caps..
Ive tried making primers from strike anywhere match heads and cap gun caps (Both the 6 shot rings and the 50 shot strips) and had marginal and inconsistent success.
Ive thought of the idea of cannibalizing 22LR rimfire for the priming compound.
Also what was your mix for powder?

1:1 mix of ground up match heads, and striker strip powder.
