Is it wrong to want this?
>>
Kinda.
>>
No, not at all. I want one myself.
>>
>>34868569

it's tempting, the weird bolt makes my almonds activate though
>>
Nope. There's tons of potential in that lower to make some cool-ass shit.
>>
>>34868569
Don't let anyone tell you your desires are wrong, with some small caveats.

I'd like if they made pic related with the traditional stock setup seen in OPs pic.

FightLite (formerly Ares) SCR lower with another companies upper

>>34868815
Also good for people want the modularity of the AR without having to neuter it with a grip fin or maglock.

I've owned one for about a year AMA
>>
>>34868569
It is a firearm. It is not wrong to want any firearm. Is it stupid to spend exorbitant amounts of money on some firearms? Maybe. But it is not wrong on any level. To feel the cold caress of hardened steel against my skin is to feel alive.
>>
>>34868569
You're alright OP. No worries.
>>
>>34868687
Isn't that just a regular A1? The point of the SCR is the missing pistol grip.

I live in Missouri and I want one. Toss a wood stock on it and it'd be perfect.

It would be better with wood. Synthetic everything just kills rifles like this for me.

>>34868696

>>34869026
Is it worth the money? By the time I pay for transfer fees here in CA I can get a mini 14 which is a complete rifle, so I'm still on the fence.
>>
>>34868569
If you live in a state where that's all you can get, then nope, it's not wrong. If you live in a state where you can get better, get better but still, it ain't terrible.
>>
>>34868569
What a full length rifle stock on an ar??? No

Pros:
It is multi caliber so if you want to do a 300 blackout or even a 7.62x39 then you can put what ever upper and bolt in you want.

Because you can use any upper you can also make it a multi use rifle as well. I use it to shoot coyotes and smaller game with 5.56/223 but you could also tacticool it out and hang lights or lasers on it.

Cons:
The stock means your finger can't release the magazine without a second hand even if you install a mag release extension. Also you have to find the parts to finish the bolt carrier group because if you get just the lower they don't include the bolt face, firing pin, or the cam pin with the BCG.

tl;dr get it if you want the modularity and flexibility of the AR but not if you can't handle some proprietary aspects and a couple quirks.
>>
>>34868653
It's not really weird if you think about how its basically the way an auto loading shot gun works.
>>
>>34870224
I don't mind the pros and cons it's mostly the price, I don't see the lower being worth 600 plus drod and transfer fees,
I have 3 ars and I'm just considering a mini 14 or buying 3 thordsen stocks.
>>
>>34871840
>I have 3 ars
oh just get the mini14 for something different then. You could also just get kydex gripfins for the ARs you already have and save some money instead of buying the stocks.
>>
It's only wrong that it's required in some places.
>>
>>34871888
>buy a rifle that uses different magazines.

This offends my inner autist
>>
>>34871888
Well the strike industries megafin grip is the only grip I liked, the gripwraps feel like shit, the thordsen feels normal enough. The mini 14 would be a welcome change but the scr looks better and takes AR mags.overall I'm still torn over this.
>>
>>34872123
I feel like, for the price, may as well just get a mini14, but with the magazine issue, the SCR might be a better choice. Mini14 is so aesthetic though

I have one.

Connecticut a shit.

But seriously, there's nothing wrong with them. Trigger isn't great, but you can replace it. And it accepts AR-15 uppers as easily as any other lower.
>>
>>34872150
I'll probably go with whatever I can find cheaper used, ive seen a few like new mini 14s that are priced around 650 with mags which makes it worth it.
>>
>>34872237
Does someone make an aftermarket trigger for it now?
>>
>>34872365
I read something about it somewhere once.

Lemme see if I can find anything.
>>
>>34872365
Looks like you can send it in to them and they'll swap out the trigger with a 5lbs version.

So I guess no aftermarket.
>>
>>34872534
Well thats disappointing, they could of put a better trigger in there for the price.
>>
>>34872952
Yeah you'd think a $400-600 lower would be good shit.

Either way, I'm still planning on getting another one because CT.

do you mean medic school cause i don't think hospitals give sign-on bonuses to docs.
>>
>>34879724
Hospitals CAN give sign on bonuses with a contract, or at least the one im doing my Residency at does. It just depends on the hospital. Non-profits I know generally dont, major metro areas are hit and miss. Midwest hospitals are so desperate for Internal Medicine they are offering ridiculous bonuses. My mother (Internal Medicine) got an offer from Napa Valley that was something like:

>$500k sign-on bonus
>20 year 0% interest 0% down mortgage in a gated community
>full health insurance
>350k/year salary
>Downside is fucking California

It's insane nowadays what hospitals are spending.
>>
>>34879707
how hard was it to adapt the wood stock to it?
>>
>>34879762
>It's insane nowadays what hospitals are spending.
When the prices of labor and equipment is corrupted by mandatory use of insurance, that's what happens. Prices of medical goods mean nothing anymore. Nobody ever asks how much it's going to be just "will my insurance cover it".

Fucking insurance jews got us with Obamacare really good.
>>
>>34879819
I'm hoping to get into the AMA or AAMC board to change that, truth be told. I 100% believe there's a deliberate scheme to artificially constrain supply of care so there's a permanent shortage of doctors, guaranteeing exhorbitant prices.

Between the MCAT exam, admission procedures (standardized application fee, transcript fees, etc) it costs practically $1,000 just to APPLY, in addition to the money spent on practice exams, mcat prep classes, etc.

I think, if the AMA was truly dedicated to increasing US Health care, it would reduce or remove a lot of those costs (even if it meant charging doctors, which i'd be okay with), wherever possible, and not constrain the number of applicants and not challenge alternative health insurance/care plans.

But this is an arguement more for /pol/. I do think it's insane.
>>
>>34879881
Oh, that was totally the scheme. Why else would insurance companies have lobbied FOR it? It's because it gave them a monopoly on medicine. It also helped doctors currently in place be in artificially higher demand.

>I think, if the AMA was truly dedicated to increasing US Health care, it would reduce or remove a lot of those costs
The modern federal government is never dedicated to helping anything but its own wallet. Anybody that thinks otherwise has been duped. They aren't looking out for your best interest as a voter. That's just what they are telling you.
>>
>>34879881
I will say too, Obamacare really fucked over a lot of people in the middle and working class. If you suddenly have a 6, 8, or 10k deductible, you may as well not even have insurance if you are decently healthy outside of one issue

>A weapon is a Copy or Duplicate and is therefore a prohibited Assault weapon if it meets one or both of the following tests and is 1) a semiautomatic rifle or handgun that was manufactured or subsequently configured with an ability to accept a detachable magazine, or 2) a semiautomatic shotgun.3

>Similarity Test: A weapon is a Copy or Duplicate if its internal functional components are substantially similar in construction and configuration to those of an Enumerated Weapon. Under this test, a weapon is a Copy or Duplicate, for example, if the operating system and firing mechanism of the weapon are based on or otherwise substantially similar to one of the Enumerated Weapons.
>Interchangeability Test: A weapon is a Copy or Duplicate if it has a receiver that is the same as or interchangeable with the receiver of an Enumerated Weapon. A receiver will be treated as the same as or interchangeable with the receiver on an Enumerated Weapon if it includes or accepts two or more operating components that are the same as or interchangeable with those of an Enumerated Weapon. Such operating components may include, but are not limited to: 1) the trigger assembly; 2) the bolt carrier or bolt carrier group; 3) the charging handle; 4) the extractor or extractor assembly; or 5) the magazine port.
