This is the Fowler ADMS. It is based on the MT-LB and not on the failed Kurganets-25 project. It is an air droppable SAM system using SOSNA-R missiles that are used by Pantsir-S1.

What use does it serve as an airdroppable SAM system? Is it just to shoot down commercial planes? Have they ever thought about buying Chinese?
>>
>>34867282

It merely has the ability to be airdropped, doesn`t necesarry mean the only way to deploy it is via air transport.
>>
>>34867282
The airborne version will not use MT-LB chasis and will use the BMD-4M chasis.

A dick matching service.
>>
>>34867319
Ah, close idea. Thank anon.
>>
>>34867298
Or just use the superior Pantsirs with superior Hermes-A missiles instead.
>>
>>34867374
Sosna-R is a replacement for Strela-10. Pantsir if ever be used by ground force will replace Tunguska, so both serve different task. Pantsir module have been tested for the airborne but its simply too heavy.
>>
Why did the Kurganets fail?
>>
>>34867410
I don't think it fail. The one that said it fail was some retired guy. Kurganmsah already denied the claim.
>>
>>34867410
It was too high. Easy target as shown in Syria and Donbass. The project started before the Ukraine Civil War. They found out they didn't need it like how it was built.
>>
>>34867520
You're full of shit. They were meant to be a more special purpose series of vehicles for urban areas, areas that height doesn't matter as much as protection.
>>
>>34867565
>urban areas
Lol no, it's supposed to be a replacement for the BMP series. And BMPs aren't necessarily only for urban areas. And the one who was interviewed was one of the engineers of Kurgan which made the machine. You don't know anything.
>>
>>34867598
Um... no it's not supposed to replace the BMP. The rest of my post specifically addressed this. Half of the concern is that the BMP-3 is still pretty light when it comes to armor and so are the older BMP-2... It's not a replacement though...
>>
>>34867618
It's called a BMP.

>The project of the Russian BMP "Kurganets-25" was unsuccessful. Such a statement was made by the former deputy chief engineer of the Kurgan machine-building plant for serial production of the BMP, Danil Relin. The specialist's words are transmitted by the portal "Kurgan and Kurgan".
"The project" Kurganets 25 "was unsuccessful, a new machine is needed, and therefore, a technical task for its development. But who should make it - is unclear, "- said Rhelin.

>According to plans, the BMP was to enter mass production in 2017-2018. In 2015 it was reported that the main disadvantage of "Kurganets-25" is a high profile. In particular, these observations are related to the fact that the deadlines for the development of the BMP were shifted by a year.
>>
>>34867282
Man I love the MT-LB, we used them in Sweden in the 90s and early 2000s, shit was unbreakable.
>>
>>34867282
>It is an air droppable SAM system using SOSNA-R missiles that are used by Pantsir-S1.
SOSNA-R is not used by Pantsir-S1. It is independent missile project. Russians loves thousand and one special snowflake sorts of SAM missiles.

No, it's just for curious people who want to find people with similar-looking dicks; since you have more in common with them you'll find it easy to be friends. Nothing gay though
>>
>>34868429
Exactly.

BMP=IFV=Replacement for BMP.
>>
Can the Russians just start mass producing shit already? Their design bureaus are churning out new blueprints and prototypes almost yearly, but their factories are inept by comparison
>>
>>34868678
The problem is money, not factory. If they have money, they can mass produce shit very quickly. From 1985-1991, UVZ produce 1.000 T-72 annually.
>>
>>34868678
They don't really need to mass produce things.
I don't think they care about winning the who has the biggest military contest anymore. It's all about nukes now.
>>
>>34868678
Its never intended to be mass produced, its just shoved in everyones faces for propaganda. Its a bit like inverted Soviet Union, where stuff was kept secret as long as possible and then just popped up by the thousands on a parade.
>>
The Chinese has a better air drop version
>>
>>34868678

The Russian military is mostly a showroom for Russian foreign military sales. Their military industry need the money from exports, but it's hard to sell to potential customers if your own country isn't buying the hardware.
>>
>>34868678
All of this is just for propaganda show/cameras. Russia's economy is in the shitter and the great majority of this downsizing is forced cost reduction under the guise of "modernization"
>>
>>34867305
>airborne SAM system
Kind of ironic, when you think about it.
>>
>>34871871
It getting shot down by another SAM while getting dropped would be a whole new level of irony.
>>
>>34871871
>fighters vector onto transport craft
>transport drops SAM from 30,000 ft
>SAM shoots fighters down
>>
>>34868678
There's no domestic demand. They are hoping for export customers.

Lets see if i get the story of that one together from memory as someone else told:
>US wars Russia
>book is about the crew of a shilkas and how they fight the americans
>Russia can fend off US pretty good, but then the US starts spamming swarm missles, they secretly developed, against russian airforce and ground forces
>Russians place Shilkas with special target system on transport planes and use them to shoot down US planes and swarm missles that come in waves from the open back hatch, it is super successful, most of US forces are obliterated
>But US has another secret weapon: slow time missles, basically missles that slow down the time in an area making chances of defence impossible
>the US uses them in an attack and destroys an entire russian city in a test, thousands of civilians die
>russians hear from a spy in an US carrier group that they now want to attack and nuke moscow with planes
>russians throw everything they have in an desperate attempt to stop that carrier group but the losses are large since the slow time missles make things impossible
>one of the shilkas crew members is an brilliant engineer who chose to go to the russian military when the US delared war
>he has a theory how the radar can be used to invert the slow time effect
>in the battle he makes changes to the radar system and when getting caught in one of the slow time bubbles the effect is inverted
cont...
>>
>>34874794
cont.
>with an cargo plane that is flying multiple machs now through the effect they can reach the carrier group in no time, with a large american plane group above it
>the americans open fire at them but they are too fast to hit, but sadly they are too fast to hit anything too
>so the crew decicdes to drop the shilka out of the plane in order to shoot down all the american planes and missles
>the free fall is troublesome, but they manage to shoot down plane after plane, while what appears to them is a slow downfall
>they use the turret movement and tracks to change the direction of the shilka and the recoil of the guns to doge missles
>the radar starts overheating and for a second or two they are back in normal time
>everyone is busy as hell in order to keep the shilka running and shooting, while they getting more and more damage through shrapnels and the like
>only a few missles and planes are left, but once again the radar starts acting up and this time they are in the normal slow down effect
>the engineer keeps the radar running by cooling the tubes of the radar with his bare hands, which burns them badly
>the shilka is in a bad position, many missles approaching closely through the short slow time effect and things get close, but the crew decicdes they wont bail til every enemy is killed
>they manage to kill all the planes but when trying to fend of the last missles attacking them, they ran out of ammo for the main guns
>>
>>34875100
>they shoot down a few more with their handguns, but they are too many, they must bail out
>the engineer says he got one last suprise for the americans and while he applies the last changes to the radar the rest of the crew urges him to leave
>they jump away from the shilka but something is off with the time field around the shilka which appears to slow down everyone in it again
>all but the engineer manage to escape the bubble, which accelerates extremly with the shilka and the engineer in it
>they open their parachute one after another watching in horror how the engineer seems to be trapped in the bubble
>in the last second he manages to escape the bubble and open his parachute
>the shilka now has an insane speed with many missles still following it
>the speed is so strong that it is like a meteor strike when the shilka hits the water
>the waves caused by this makes half of the american fleet sink or crash into each other
>right after this about 50 russian super sonic anti ship missle wreck havok with the rest of the US fleet
>the book ends with the crew being picked up by the russian navy were the they are told that the US wants to discuss the terms for their surrender after losing their last carrier group
